http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060220 It's down a ways

Best Potential Story That Could Have Saved "ESPN Hollywood"
On Friday afternoon, Sony invited me and a few other writers to hang out with LeBron as he played NBA '06 on a PlayStation 2, even giving me the chance to play against him. Of course, because we were in Houston and the guy with the PlayStation consoles got caught in traffic for an hour, we ended up watching LeBron play on a PSP for 30 minutes while he halfheartedly answered questions, finally getting up to leave, saying, "Bron Bron has other priorities," before they reminded him that he had to give us 10 more minutes. That was awkward.

With that, he took a seat and loosened up; I actually ended up liking him, although he definitely seems a little full of himself. (Can you blame him?) We learned that he's a "Madden" guy, that he beats up on everyone on the Cavs, that he owns three different iPods, that he "can't go nowhere without my iPod and my cell phone chargers," that he still thinks Detroit and San Antonio are the teams to beat, that he thinks the Cavs can play with anyone and that the toughest guys in the league for him to guard are Paul Pierce and Kobe.
Well, you know me -- I wasn't satisfied with any of these answers. So when someone asked him what other sports he watched, LeBron mentioned that he liked tennis, leading me to make the obligatory "men's or women's?" joke. This was followed by LeBron's making the obligatory frown and saying, "Women's ... I don't like men," and confessing that Maria Sharapova was his favorite player. I joked that he should go after her because they would be America's new power couple, which was followed by LeBron's nodding and saying -- in all seriousness -- "That day might present itself."

(Honestly? LeBron seemed more motivated about landing Sharapova than taking the Cavs to the Finals. And who can blame him? He's now my favorite non-Celtic. I'm that easy.)

Interesting. :)

lebron doesnt need a chainsaw, all he got to do is tell roddick to go to hell, and roddick will be gone, LBJ is 6'8 with pure muscle, he can whoop andys ass in any given day..plus, after roddick retire, his career prize money and also the endorsement deal he got wont even be as much as LBJ earns in a year or even for a month, LBJ could easily get any girl he likes..

LeBron seemed more motivated about landing Sharapova than taking the Cavs to the Finals.Nailing Sharapova is about a thousand times easier than taking the Cavs to the finals as they are currently constructed. The Cavs would lose if they play New Jersey, much less Detroit or Miami. He's now my favorite non-Celtic.Ha. All becaause he admits Paul Pierce is essentially unguardable. Celtic fan.:)

It seemed like a very media-friendly, careful answer to me.

I joked that he should go after her because they would be America's new power couple, which was followed by LeBron's nodding and saying -- in all seriousness -- "That day might present itself."

Does that imply that he thinks she is ugly and he never wants to see her again, he could have responded to that in a million other ways.
For example after seeing his AO interview with Chris Fowler I'm pretty sure Roddick would have flipped out on the guy.

I think some are putting to much into his comment. I know she attended one of his games in Cleveland in December. I posted the picture from the yahoo website.. It's not there anymore... just the caption is.. [Women's tennis champion Maria Sharapova watches the Cleveland Cavaliers play against the Atlanta Hawks in Cleveland, Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005.]

No, it doesn't. It also doesn't imply that he wants to make her the other half of America's new power couple - he could've said that a million other ways too.

well I'm not a fan o LeBron and I said it in the Non- Tennis Area. I think Lebron is way to arrogant. He showed it in the All-Star Game with his play. He is young and very talented but this article shows me that I'm right. Now really he showed nothing important an the Court. He is no MVP of the year, won no Title or something. He is at the moment only a very talented Player! Nothing more nothing less. And when he has to think more about Maria then about his Team and the Title, he will never be a Real Star like Shaq, Kobe or Michael Jordan!

God created all people people different but Colt equalized them all ;) Plus every woman needs 4 things in her life: fur on her shoulders, tiger in her bed, jaguar in her garage and a donkey who would pay for all of this. So money is instrumental in getting a girl but is not everything ;)

No match up there at all, not even in jest. Lebron was just playing to the media. if he had said anything else there would have been scores of negative artilces written about him.
