View Full Version : Is Myskina your favorite athlete?

I know we must have some multi-sports fans in here like me so I was wondering how many of you have Nastya as their absolute favorite athlete. Nastya is not my favorite athlete. Maybe #2 but no where close to #1. Which isn't bad considering tennis is only my 4th favorite sport. So who else can admit that Nastya isn't their favorite athlete? Or am I just a horrible fan who deserves to be flogged?

She is my absolute favourite too... And i'm a fan of tennis, cricket, swimming, diving and more! It's even weird, that i'm gay, and I even look forward to seeing her more than my hot guy favs :D

Hmmmm. I am a fan of different sports. If I was offered a chance to see any athlete currently playing in action, it would be Myskina. I wouldn't even have to think about it. If you could put me into a time machine my answer might be different. I am quite taken by Nastya though.

Not so strange. I'm not gay and most of my favorite athletes have been male. I admit, I get a different feeling watching Nastya than I do watching Brett Favre. :wavey:

My favorite athlete is Rod Smith, he is a Wide Receiver for the Denver Broncos. American football is my favorite sport by a wide margin and the Broncos are my favorite team. Smith is my favorite athlete by a gigantic margin.

Myskina may be my 2nd favorite athlete though. It is close with her and a couple of others. Definitely top 4.

I hate Roddick. Probably because I'm force fed him all the time. Just like the rest of the American players. All of whom I pretty much despise. I like Roddick's post match interviews especially after a Federer match because he can be really funny. Other than that though I don't like him.

NHL hockey player Steve Yzerman beats Nastya, but he's nearing retirement (likely when this season is over.) But that's it.

I watch a lot of sports (except american football and golf and rugby) but don't have too many favourites I cheer for it seems.

I guess Steve Yzerman the way he plays the game, his tempermant and personality is kinda how I wanted to be. So he's kinda a hero-like stature. While, Anastasia Myskina, the way she plays and her personality and temperment, is my ideal girl, I guess.

I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that it might incriminate me. ;)

Seriously, Kasey Keller and Lena D. are probably my favorite male and female athletes, respectively. Nasty's just a slight tick behind Lena, though.

Yes, Anastasia is my fave sport athlete, I love her more than any other.
I'm also a big fan of the motorcycling 7 times World Champion Valentino Rossi (for us in Italy he is like a God) and the Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen (I know that it sounds strange because the 99% of the Italians supports Michael Schumacher because he is a Ferrari's driver).

To be honest, I really do love Nastya, her personality on court and off but sports-wise, itīs Justine H-H who amazes me the most while playing the actual sport, so I guess when it comes to who I look up most to, I would have to say Justine. Her attitude always to give her best out there no matter what (not counting a stomach ulcer, lol) is something I really really admire in her.

I think Iīve always made that difference concerning my two fave tennis players. For me itīs like at the Oscars: You gotta love "Titanic", "Lord of the Rings", "Gladiator", "Shakespeare in Love" but on the same you have to acknowledge less-īentertaining Blockbustersī - yet unbelievable well done and highly sophisticated - fellow winners such as "Crash", "Million Dollar Baby" or "The English Patient". The two groups of movies are somewhat different but still they do deserve their Awards on an equal level and I canīt tell which ones I like better.

Does this make any sense? Well, this is my opinion;)

It makes total sense. Nastya is a big emotional favourite of mine too. If I judged my fav's by their tennis style on the court only, I don't think she would be my favourite.

Crash was certainly not deserving of the Oscar. That movie was a piece of crap.

First of all...sorry, this is way longer than I have expected it to become and itīs not about tennis at all :tape:

Crash was certainly not deserving of the Oscar. That movie was a piece of crap.

The opinions are really divided here. Personally I think itīs wonderfully done, very strong moments and despite its narrative structure, itīs an extremely homogenous piece of work. Sad and sometimes painfully shocking images but on the same just really beautiful. Every single second contributes to the whole message of the movie.

I doubt anyone who watched the movie would think that every human living in the US is somehow racist but imo itīs not about how people hate each other in a superficial easy sense but rather implicates in different ways that xenophobia - the fear of an individual of the foreign - is mainly due to the personal (failed) processing of their own culture, past and experiences. E.g. hardly any post World War II German would ever put up a German flag in their frontyard or say that they are proud of the present Germany - doesnīt matter if itīs economy, sports or arts. Right now, the country has tremendous trouble coping with īghettoī-2nd/3rd generation foreigners in schools and on the streets in poor areas. Everyone knows why this is: Germany has totally missed the early conduct of integration based on their fear of being too rigorous in dealing with immigrants.

You canīt treat people the right way and judge them the right way, if you canīt even judge the person starring back at you in the mirror.

Back to the movie: Imo Ryan Phillippeīs character (young Cop) is the best example of misconceived behaviour towards īthe otherī in the movie. He thinks heīs the good guy with the right attitude, saving a black guy, thinking that heīs done a good deed and also when he gives a young african american dude a ride in his car only to become shocked about his very own subliminal existence of fear of the foreign.

Used to think that Brokeback Mountain should win the Oscar but Crash is definetly the better movie (even though I love Brokeback).

I only know that this movie will certainly be the main focuse of one of my future papers. Crash is a total dream for media/-culture science student like Spunky;)

But hey - everyoneīs entitled to his/her own opinion

Hey Spunky, enjoy yourself in Liege!! ;)

Yeah, seems like I will be staying home the weekend as belgium hasnīt contacted us again after two confirmation emails. Inside-tennis.net has been down (yet again) for the last week due to traffic problems with the server and they probably thought twice about giving us a pass when they saw our super lack of professionalism, so weīre out. I donīt hold that against the organisers, the project has been a joke as of lately. Guess itīs time to move on ;)

Well, when you move on, I hope it's as a sports writer/journalist and that you let us know where you're work can be found. I'm sure there are a number of people who enjoy your writing on a-m.com, myself included, who would like to be able to continue doing so into the future. Anytime Nasya plays a match that I'm unable to watch, which is most of the time, I know I can always count on you to inform me as to what happened, make some interesting observations and occasionally inject a bit of humor.

Nastya is surely my favourite athlete, I would follow her everywhere if I could!
I'm unbelievably happy when she win and very sad when she lose!
Tennis is my favourite sport (I play it, although with few success!!), but
I follow also football and motors (Formula 1 and MotoGP).
I like Andre Agassi very much, Valentino Rossi, Giancarlo Fisichella.
But Anastasia is the highest for me!
