:)

I didn’t see the match…. *sobs* …. But don’t worry, I’ll recover from the heartache soon.

I’d like to say – yet again, WELL DONE AMELIE! I hear this was a fantastic match, SO, I hope both players played very good tennis and Amelie triumphed. That would be so much sweeter, considering Kim’s retirement at the AO.

This is just great for her. 3 titles in a ROW! My joy is beyond words, and I hope doubters are left speechless too

Just great. Just great!

she was down 1 set and one break against the world n°1,she looked very tired in the first set and then she fought so well, seemed like nothing can hurt or disturb her.SHE was stunning especially at 3-2 last set,kim had a break point and then amélie did 3 winning serves and 2 consecutives ACES.Like a Champion that she is.

She beat the world n1 in front of her home crowd and won the second time in 2 years the diamond racket.Hopeffully she will take it in 3 years

Momo played well on the big points in the last 2 sets and served aces at decisive ones. Kim gave away the two breaks with DF and some weak points whilst Momo was pressurizing her. Basically momo dealt better with sustained pressure from the other side of the net and was even more consistent than Kim - the reverse of the old form book.

It was a high quality match. A heartbreaker for me - but conratz to Momo. As to Momo "owning" Kim the two people I can guarantee as not thinking like that at all are Momo herself and Kim. So Momo fans - don't get too cocky and talk about dominance - cos Kimmie will be back and is going to win next time they meet.

um if you look the people claiming "dominance" aren't even mauresmo fans. as for their next match, we'll see who wins, they're both playing well and it'll go to the better player on the day. so i don't think amelie's fans are getting too cocky, certainly not any more cocky than kim's fan when she went on a roll last year, or any other fan group when their fave is playing really well. :)

OhmiGawd

Amelie was simply the beter player. The unforced errors were nearly the same, juts 9 in it, but Amelie the the better stats over all. WOW WOW WOW.

Thank you Hab. For these stats – they are just great. More smashes, more first serve percentage, more winning serves, more aces.

The kim, who beat Dementieva, Safina and Golovin all of whom are in some good form, was beaten fair in square by Amelie.

Well done Amelie.

I kinda wanted Kim to win, but Amélie :hearts: Now she's made 3 in a row and can win the racket next year. :worship: Allez!

Kim, tough luck but there's always the next tournament. Congrats on the gutsy performances and good luck in Indian Wells/Miami. I don't see her defending both, but I think she will win at least one.

It looks like a good match to me, too bad I don't have coverage.

Amélie  Good luck in Dubai until the SF!

19/02/2006 - Tennis - WTA - Anvers

Amelie :worship: ANOTHER title! She should take next week off.

Amelie now OWNS Kim. 3wins in a row. I think she'll win the diamond racket next year.

even though she has won 3 in a row against her now,i certainly wouldn t say Amelie owns Kim.

As Amelie sportively very well said, the today's match could have easily gone either way. :)

You're not wrong there. I think a couple of them were actually dead! Or maybe just in a coma, if I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt ;)

Whatever, Amelie deserved to win, so hats off to her for that, while Kim has some work to do on her fitness and serve, methinks. Hope she,s back up there in time for IW. Amelie seems to have masses of confidence and self belief now and looks like THE player to beat.

That's so true!

Amelie now will be known now for her mental strength - she's another one that does not give up and will fight to win until the last point. Fantastic!

She must have really worked hard on her mental strength these last few years and now it is showing and paying off!!!

What was particularly impressive in Mauresmo's victory IMO was the WAY she won. She was being knocked around the court by Kim in the first set, so she very definitely altered her approach, playing loads of high balls to Kim's backhand, and making her work for her shots. Then, when she had the chance she was really aggressive. All too often, Mauresmo plays her matched from 3m behind the baseline. If she continues to be aggressive, this really could be her year.

The main surprise was the way Kim crumbled in the final game. Both played very solidly in the final set, but Kim just seemed to lose it in the last game. However, full marks to Amelie for playing it very cool and winning! I'd love to see her do really well at Wimbledon this year - she has the perfect game for grass.

(BTW, as a Brit, can I give a quick HOORAY for Andy Murray!! :) :) :) )
