I dont care if its early, which of u lot has tickets?! I havent had any come through. Im actually gutted....!

But I might try some blagging as I am the new sports sec for my hall at uni (Loughborough Uni and its really sporty) so I might go over to the LTA academy and tell them im a sports secretary and see what I can get!

OOO a wimby thread already, i'm liking this!
I obviously have no ballot tickets, cos i have just come back from melb and spent all my money, which already seems like 4 months ago, due to the CRAP WEATHER.
I plan on going first week, want some doubles action tho, do you know when that starts?
Where are debenture seats.. are they those proper high up ones?
I prefer to watch the non top ten ish players, as at least they get the crap courts to play on and the matches are not totally one sided.
Plus linds will be on cc, c1 or that shit court where you cant see bugger all on.... you know the one i mean, where there is reserved seating, which is always empty and then about 5 million ground pass holders packed onto some crappy steps at the top and you cant see bugger all and even lindsay who is proper tall looks like a midget.
OOO ive started a rant already and its not even march!
:fiery: :fiery:

maybe you could even learn to spell W-I-M-B-L-E-D-O-N before you go!?!

I went last year and my best advice to anyone would be to get yourself organised with a tent and sleeping bag. You'll have the craic and the atmosphere with other people queueing-as seen on these boards Wimbledon does of course attract a lot of the prawn sandwich, no nothing about tennis brigade but in the queue you will meet the real hardcore. Also especially from the quarters on you'll easily get tickets for centre and court 1 if you get up early enough.

!<blocparty>!
Feb 23rd, 2006, 02:39 PM
My cousin knows a reporter who gets tickets for free and she said she went two years ago with 2 tickets and she had a brillant time. She could go to every court. I made a bargain with my parents that if i can pass my pre-leaving cert exams, they said I would get to go and I had two exams today which went well so it looks like I am going!!!!!. I am working over there for the summer anyway, so i will be def going.
Lets hope she will make into the second round and not get injured

Who are you, and what are your other usenames. When you first joined, you put TOP forever in your sig, but, had never posted here.

Nobody in their right mind spells Wimbledon as Winbledon, no matter how retarded they are.

I'm from Ireland. I met you the morning of the quarter, we were standing below the steps before they let us up to the courts and hill. I admired the tshirts and you told me that you had queued through the fourth round to make sure you got tickets for the match. Remember I said I'd seen the picture for the tshirt on the net and you asked where and I said the tower of power site. It seems Lindsay is going to have loads of support again at Wimbledon this year.

I suppose we can't have anything but the best behaviour at the All England Club, ra ra ra. Seriously if I do invest in a tshirt it wont be with mad pics or anything like that just something subtle to have as a momento for going along. It would be great to get it signed.

Oh yeah....you might have said "I'm the irish girl" lol, I was a bit dazed when I met you....lots of excitement, not enough sleep!

Yeah, Lindsay saw the picture of her punching Tim, but it wasn't the one on my T shirt she saw - it was the one on Lene's. Lene's was bigger and more cropped than mine was. Think lene said Lindsay said something like, "mmmm, that's interesting" :haha: bless!

Yes, it were mine. That damn t-shirt were too frickin tight! Lindsay did like tho, she said sumat along the lines of 'oh gee thats interesting' and signed along the dotted line at the bottom, when i shoved a pen in her face and quickly turned and pointed at my wonderful t-shirt (created by a fab designer), which has clearly never seen the light of day again. But it has been washed, and the signature is still clearly there!
Im not going for the mentally disturbed stalker supporter this year, altho i do think slogans on your tees are the way to go to get on the telly!
I am learning how to whistle with fingers crammed in the mouth, i have mastered the fingerless whistle and do my best to scare the crows away when they try and stalk my poor goldfish in my pond.

Well, I dunno if i have tips but I remember when I first learned. I was watching a local team football match (Newcastle Town FC) as my Uncle at the time played for them. I got a bit bored as it was a bit of a slow crappy match.

I got my index finger and middle finger on each hand and put them together, clenching my other fingers in as if I was making "gun fingers". You then put the tips of the middle fingers (while in "gun finger" mode) together at an angle, making a sort of "A" shape.

Imagine these slashes are your index and middle fingers:

//\\ - your middle fingers should be touching like that.

Make sure your joined middle fingers touch the middle tip of your tongue, then fold your tongue back just a little in your mouth, close your lips too and blow.

If you can't fold, twist and role your tongue anyway, you might have trouble with this one.

:haha: Hope this helps!

That's not a very confidence boosting slogon! If she saw that, I doubt she'd see the funny side of it and want to ram her rackets where the sun don't shine ;)

Well, 6 days to my birthday, and 6 days before I find out whether I got Wimbledon tickets that I CAN'T use! \yey/

Kelly, I too spit all over the place trying to whistle like that.....though it didn't affect my surroundings as I was outside at a football match when I practiced. I recommend you don't try whistling with fingers over your PC.

 There's alsways a way around the no large flag rule. I have a coat that works like a jumper (ie pull it over your head - me and my sister call them cumpers), and it has a huge pocket or kangaroo pouch that zips up at the front. So the second time we went Wimbledon last year, I put it in there as they only searched my bag and not me. HE HE

About the wisteling....don't blow as if blowing a "rasberry", just blow as in exhaling. The position of your fingures should make the sound...also, if it's not quite right, just slightly alter your finger possitions in your mouth.

:tape: Is it me or is this begining to sound silly

day 2, searched me good and proper, confiscated. got flag back, told them i would take it home, legged it round to another entrance, stuffed it down my shorts, got in no probs, was walking past a security guard with flag in tow, and he confiscated it. got it back, went in another entrance, pissed me off all day (too much walking).
day 3, had no probs, day 4 no probs, day 5 confiscated again.
Its a bit hit or miss, but if they do swipe it, it is sure to annoy you, cos every bugger else foreigners mostly has got one in!

Even though I love Wimbledon there are other tournaments and grandslams. Some people will only be supporting the girl from june 26th until the 9th of july and all of a sudden once Wimbledon is mentioned all these people, who come on once in a blue moon, are going crazy and the way they are posting they obviously know very little. You know who you are. This happens to all players around this tournament which is not suprising as it is the biggest in the world, all of a sudden there is bandwagon for Lindsay and once the womens' final is over we don't hear from them until next year and there mentioning things that couldn't possibly happen like how they got tickets and what Lindsay said to them(we all know Lindsay is quite and never interacts with fans that much)etc. I know i'm new but i'm not a glory hunter I love Lindsay 365 days a year

whats the need for this post.....? So what if some people only come out of the closet when wimbledons on. Every single person in this thread is a loyal lindsay fan.
What does it matter if you dont watch every match she plays in under the sun 12 months round each year? Not everyone has access to Sky TV, has the money to go to events staged round the world, has full time jobs etc. As long as people are there supporting and enabling it to be a success as it always is, I dont really see the problem and the need for negativity in this thread.
I also think as a new member, you shouldnt be going round throwing accusations like that to people who have been members here for a long time. It wont do you any favours.

It has to be accepted that when you go to Wimbledon the great majority of people are not like us. Many people go because its a big event-they watch a little tennis, eat strawberries and cream, drink pims and care little for any of the players-but why let that ruin it for you?! look I was down in Aorangi terrace last year and Novotna walks past "who is she?", Lindsay walks by "who is that tall girl?", the morning of the semi Venus passes us by "is that Serena?"-there is no point getting annoyed, I just smiled to myself, shrugged it off and was happy that because I follow tennis all the time it meant so much to me to be there. Glory hunters will atach themselves onto whatever is cool at the time, after Wimbledon they will move onto the World Cup-who gives a toss?! This thread should be happy, happy, HAPPY! especially with it being the 6th birthday of Tower of Power. We're all going to Wimbledon Woo-fu*kin-hoo :bounce:

 First of all, I'd like to see examples of this, where you've seen people talk about Lindsay interacting her fans - but you think it didn't happen!?

Also, who are you to say which fans come on this board and post once in a blue moon and only seem to appear during Wimbledon when you yourself only joined this february and have only posted about 40-odd times!?

And like Lindsayno1 said, why should you care about these people?! I mean, at one time in 1999 when I joined the TOP forum at WTAtour.com (when it was about) I didn't post very often because I had limited internet access - what's to say those posters you talk about don't have the same problem.

 If people just want to pass through now and again - that's fine with me. Also, we have long-standing posters who for whatever reason (ie. they have a life ;) ) can't quite post as often, but it's nice to see their posts now and again when they do pay a visit :)

Also, I would have understood the reasons for your post had something else had been said that deserved the retaliation, but I'm affraid that your post seemed to come out of no where

Wimbledon banishes purple and green
March 9, 2006 - 7:24PM

The tradition that oozes from Wimbledon has been compromised, with officials to no longer wear the traditional purple and green.

Chair umpires, line judges and ball-kids will instead wear navy and cream outfits following a sponsorship deal between the All England Club and Polo Ralph Lauren.

The fashion label will become the first company to sponsor official apparel in the club's 129-year history.

No no no its just wrong, like they aren't skanking enough cash out of the poor :rain: fans with them pricey tix, they are getting shut of the lovely purple and green uniforms, what is wimbledon coming to..Maybe they are gonna try and fund henman (with the new money) and send him to tennis skool

My mother and I queued at about 3' o clock in the morning for the fourth round and got court 2 and on the day of the quarter I was there at about 4 and got court 1 and saw Lindsay but I could have got centre court. The fact that no Brits made the second week last year made it much easier to get tickets so to be safe this year I'm going to camp. Hope this helps :)

Thanks dav abu, do you know price of tickets? I'm planning on watching at least three days. Also is it per court? and not like the US Open where they have a ground pass and you can see other matches except arthur ashe.

Also, is there any cheap hotels? coz I will be sleeping only there and I will be probably always out.

its all on www.wimbledon.org (http://www.wimbledon.org/)

everything u wanna know

More spacifically ;) :

Queuing information:
http://www.wimbledon.org/en_GB/about/tickets/queue.html

Travel information:
http://www.wimbledon.org/en_GB/about/tickets/travel.html

Accomodation (ranging from guest houses to hotels):
http://www.wimbledon.org/en_GB/about/tickets/accommodation.html

You could try look into some hostels for accom. I used "The Genrator" (http://www.generatorhostels.com/london/ ) once for a college trip to London. It was alright for the price. It's in the center of london, so about a half hour underground ride to Wimbledon. Rooms range from 12 bed dorms (if you have enough friends) or there are one and two bed options (private rooms). There is no en suit bathrooms in that place. They are shared and showers are in cubicles....as are toilets.

I can also recommend the "Royal National Hotel" ( http://roomsnet.com/london-hotels/royal_national_hotel-london_england.html ), again near to the center of London. Reletively cheap and very cheerful. Many different nationalities stay here - it's the best I've been to.

You could try and find some other hostels here: http://www.hostellondon.com/

To be in with a great chance of tickets, you need to camp/queue from the night before or very early in the day. Here's a link to my guide to Wimbledon Queue: http://www.wtaworld.com/showpost.php?p=7310379&postcount=18

Hope this helps.

I'm not going to Wimbledon (I am going to the USO though ;) ), but I hope the Brits lose early (sorry Brit fans!) because hopefully then we'll get more coverage of the OTHER players...

I know the BBC struggles to understand that the draw isn't just about Tim, Andy & Greg  I hope they show Lindsay's matches :hearts:

Last year i did not even know shit tim henman had even got knocked out. obv the crowds dies down a bit and concentrated on that other one, the sick n cramps geezer, until he went bye byes too, then wimbledon was all good again.
This was Until i returned home, to watch the rest on the telly.
You may have thought since the crappy brits were now out, that comentators and coverage would not fetaure on their shit performances, oh no how wrong you could be.
Feature after feature, interview after interview, its not like tim has anything worthwhile to say, he maybe the dullest man ever, clearly not a fan, we even had tims dad telling us he'll be back next year, fingers crossed he'll move to majorca to perish to retire and we'll never hear about him again.

Lets have a re run of how the brits faired this year (lindsays match just about to be live on centre court at this time), nOOOOOOOOOOOOoooOOOOooOOOooOooOooOOOoooOoooOoooOOO ooOOo (many expletives hurled at the presenters on bbc) :fiery:

i cant explain it...i just have no enthusiam for tennis at the moment. i think i have only watched a couple of tennis matches since the ozzy open. basically just cant be arsed. i think i am only gonna go to wimby for 3/4 days cos money is tight at the mo and i have other things to pay for and again...just cant be bothered!

He he he, i am also having mid season tennis blues, after the aus open. I just couldnt be arsed checking scores n stuff, not like me at all. Im convinced this will all change when i get in that twatting lovely wimbledon q.
And kelly, you will get texted a lot, cos we all know how dull that q is, and clearly i will require lindsay updates as centre court will not be shelled out for. £37 quid is not a bargain. Can get 2 pairs of jeans and a couple of tops for that at tkmaxx. :tape:

i won 90 quid on the grand national, clearly my horsey was not winning, until that ballykissass one came a cropper, oh did amuse, big shout of oh thank fcuk at the telly, and then a bit of 'whip that horsey some more, whip it whip it', followed by 'hurry the hell up or its the glue factory for you', seemed to do the trick,
Horsey is now eating hay and sugar lumps in nice paddock somewhere. I have money for petrol, yippeeeeeee :bounce: :bounce:

AAARRRGGGHHH! ps the nearer to the queue the better, rolling out of bed much better than travelling from st. albans every day. xx *becks*

This place have turned a couple of big houses into hotel / B&B. http://www.hotelsinwimbledon.com/trochee.htm

price for single room is £45 per night.

The ridgeway place one is just about half a mile from Wimbledon tennis centre and Malcolm Road one is a little futher away (a mile to a mile and half away). If you want to roll out of bed and into the queue, I would suggest the Ridgeway place one.

Some pictures at this link: http://www.hotelsinwimbledon.com/ridgeway.htm
Prices: http://www.hotelsinwimbledon.com/rates2.htm
contact: http://www.hotelsinwimbledon.com/contact.htm

hope this helps. I just did a quick search - you couldn't probably find some more yourself if you get chance.

I'm definitely going, we bought our tent on Saturday and just put it up on the lawn this evening. It will be a bit of a squash but should be great craic. Things like how we are going to have a shower and charge our phones still have to be organised but we know people living not too far away so I'm sure we will sort something. The queueing is mad but great craic, we are really looking forward to it. Keep an eye out for a tent with an American flag (with "I wish they all could be California Girls - Lindsay Davenport Forever") and a little Irish and French flag. Is anyone else here going to camp? we should have a few of Guinness together around our once use barbeques :D
