I don't know what happened with her and Stosur, but now without Sam, she's back to a mediocre doubles player again!

Wish she could find a great steady partner!

Why'd they actually split up as a team?

I don't think there was any problem between Sam & Bryanne. Lisa Raymond just asked Sam to play doubles and Sam accepted feeling this was an opportunity to move onto the next level, and it has proved to be the correct decision for her.

Bryanne has always been rather good doubles player and I'm sure she'll find good partner to win a Slam (maybe Petrova, she is free now)

From Matt 10/02/06 (that was me, by the way)

Q. Hey Sam! Where and what you will do during the 'break' between Tokyo last week and next tournament at Memphis in few weeks time? And did Lisa Raymond ask you to team up after Wimbledon last year? Are you still in touch with Bryanne Stewart?

A. Hey Matt, During the break between Tokyo and Memphis I am practicing in Tampa. At wimbledon last year Lisa did ask me to play doubles with her. It was a very hard decision to make as Bryanne and I had done really well together and were such good friends. I'm looking forward to seeing Brita in Indian wells in a few weeks and going for a drink :) so I guess that answers your question.

Bryanne is a good doubles player, and hopefully she'll get a good partner.

It's sad... Stewart/Stosur were, by far, my favorite team.

I would like to see Bry team up with Leanne. They are both playing in the same 25k in Sydney:D. But Leanne is still playing with Fran L:(..

She should try and play more some singles. I actually think with the right coach and some conditioning she could have a pretty good career. She had some good results when she was younger from memory.

I saw Bryanne and Sam play doubles last year in Amelia Island where they won the title. They were a great team! Actually, they defeated Raymond/Stubbs there in a third set tiebreaker in a thriller of a match. In the final, Bryanne pretty much carried Sam as Sam was very erratic. I was sad to see them split up after some solid results together. I know that Bryanne has been playing with Lisa McShea lately (who herself did very well in 2003 winning multiple titles with Sequera) but they haven't had success. I'm sure she'll find the right partner and do very well for herself...good luck Bryanne!

i watched a bit of bryanne/casey's match today against a chinese team at sydney challenger... i think it was a good decision of sam's to split up (amiccably it appears) with bryanne and team up with lisa, as can be seen in her much improved game tacticwise :)

Year To Date Prize Money

Sam : US $ 216,854.00
Bryanne: US $ 9,049.00

That prize money doesn't really mean that much. If Bryanne was teaming with Lisa and Sam with someone like Casey, it would be reversed. Bryanne may not be as good a player as Sam, but she's still really good.

Maybe she should team up with Martina Nav if she dumps underperforming Liezel.
