The rankings are close at the top. If she wins the OGDF, is she Number One on Monday?

No. She's defending finalist points from last year.

Dont forget that Kim might win points in Antwerp if she does well, while Amelie can lose some as the defending champion (although I don't see her losing before the semis)... Also, Amelie can win other points if she does well in Doha, so anything can happen!

Amelie can ascend to No.1 at Doha [ the reason I think she is playing. ]
Kim may play Antwerp and gain points, although I doubt it.
If Amelie can defend most of the points and preform strongly at Doha [ which has incredibly weak field for a Tier II ], she can be No.1 by the end of February and watch her lead only grow as Kim will be defending major points during March.
As of now, Amelie can only gain points these two weeks of Paris and Antwerp, only if she wins Paris -- and even then, it will not be enough to overcome Kim. Doha is the spotlight tournament for Amelie.

Amelie is the most deserving of the #1 ranking, as of today, IMO.

I don't really agree, don't forget Kim is the holder of the US Open title and 3 huge titles (Indian Wells, Miami and Toronto). She also won many other strong tournaments (Eastbourne, Stanford, Los Angeles, Luxembourg) and a Grand Slam semifinal (AO). But I agree Amelie is not far behind, with the AO, the YEC, Rome and Wimbledon SF.

Apologies. YOU stand correct.
