Choking is different from lost opportunities. Choking is when you are up, supposed to win, and then for whatever reasons mentally fail to keep up the same level of play and end up losing the lead. Just because Schynder was unable to win one of 5 game points at 4-4 in the first set does not make it a choke. It is merely the fact that she was not able to take those opportunities. Even if she were to have won that game, it does not mean that she would have won the set. There is a BIG difference between choking and not making the best of your opportunities. If this first set is considered a choke, then nearly 2/3 of matches are won and lost because of a choke. One can say that Hingis choked against Justine because she had plenty of break points and didn't win it. That's just ludicrous.

Let me guess: Schnyder stayed two meters behind the baseline moonballing Pierce and waiting for the best instead of using her amazing talent and shot variety to make Pierce run around.
