Hey new member here and *HUGE* fan of Lindsay's tennis and of her as a person. First fell in love with her in Wimbledon 2002 and have been following her ever since - needless to say Wimbledon 2005 was one of the most traumatising tennis tournaments of my life but I have the faith!

Anyway...yeah...so she's injured and I haven't seen any mention on the boards if her ankle feels better cos a defended title in Dubai would really help Lindsay in terms of ranking points. i.e not dropping anymore.

And after Dubai...where is she playing?

Sorry if this is all common knowlede - I.is.thick.like :)

I'm sure her ankle is better by now. But that doesn't mean she'll play Dubai.

She's also scheduled to play Indian Wells and Miami.

Well, I think it's a 50-50 as to whether she plays Dubai. Her ankle is probably fine by now, but she may choose to rest up for Indian Wells and the now mandatory Miami.

If she does miss Dubai, she can make up the points with a good showing in Miami :)

I read in the top 15 listing on the WTA site Lindsay is playing in Dubai next week. We've gone from nothing for three weeks since the oz open to she will be playing every week for the next four. Also Welcome to Emmanya hope you enjoy being a member of this board.

Yea playing 4 weeks in a row esp at this point in her career prob isn't the best thing to do. It suck that Lindz has to play Miami cause, as we all know she doesn't like playing there.

Why doesn't she like playing Miami?

She shouldn't whine about playing Miami. All players play it, and have for years. And it's really not that bad... She has a 1r bye at both IW and Miami, and probably won't play her first match until Thursday or Friday. And I doubt she makes it past the QF at Miami, so there's nothing to worry about.

She's supposed to be playing AI, too.

Who knows. She gets injured in Miami lots, maybe that's why.

Selfishly, I'd rather see her skip Dubai and focus on kickin' ass at IW and Miami since I'll actually get to see those on TV, alot. But this is Lindsay we're talking about.

If Lindsay doesn't play Dubai, I guarentee she doesn't do well at IW. You can't just show up at a hugh tournament with zero prep. We've seen with other players what happens.

i still think she will be 'injured' for miami or show up and tank it.

Yeh...Serena winning Miami on her comeback in 2004. ;)

She's not going to withdraw or tank. If she does, that's a really, really, really stupid decision. Miami is a mandatory ranking tournament.

For all of her "I hate Miami, blah, blah, blah..." talk, she really hasn't done that badly there. She made the final in 2000, winning a fantastic semifinal match. That's probably my favorite Lindsay match ever. And other than 2003, she consistently makes the later rounds of the tournament. Miami was actually her breakout tournament back in 1994. She whipped then-world number five Sabatini in the QF, then gave #1 Graf a good fight in the SF. Ditto 1996.

It's all an attitude problem. If she goes into it in a bad mood, thinking she's losing early, she's going to lose early. If she goes into it okay, there's no reason for her to lose before the semis. It's exactly like Roland Garros.

Serena is different. And she can't do that anymore. Nobody can.

I think Dubai and Doha have been switched around in this years calendar. So that should mean she has a week off between Dubai and IW... or was it like that last year?

You're correct. Last year it was Doha, Dubai, IW. This year it is Dubai, Doha, IW.

Which match was that 2000 Miami semifinal?

Which match was that 2000 Miami semifinal?
That was way before I was watching, but I just looked it up. She beat Testud 6-1 6-7(4) 7-6(5)! Talk about a tight match!
In the other semifinal, Hingis double-bagelled Seles.

Which match was that 2000 Miami semifinal?
She beat Testud in a very, very high quality three set match. She was absolutely jubilant when she won. That's actually the most celebration I've ever seen from her after a victory.

It must be a great match according to what you all say... I will try to get it...

I've only been watching her since USO 2004 and I think the most excited I've seen her was after she beat Vee in the R16 there.
I thought she would be orgasmic after beating KFC at RG and Wimbledon last year, but nothing. Maybe a tiny fist pump and grin at RG. I think at Wimbledon she was still pissed off she didn't put Kim away at 5-4 in the second set?

Also grand slam she got the number 1 ranking back after winning this match. I don't think players should be made to play Miami if they don't want to its alot of tennis in two tournments. Andrew why shouldn't Lindsay just support her home state tournment and not play miami it a dumb rule that is only going to make the injury problem worse but on the other hand Andrew I do agree with you Lindsay hasn't done too badly there their.

Lindsay kept injurying herself in Miami since 2000semi extraordinary match against Sandrine...back then she's got injured her thigh and lost to Hingiz quick. Next year she injured her knee there Vs LenaD. In 2003 - I don't remember, but she tanked to Marion Bartoli in a strange way - possibly hurt knee again. I'm not surprised she doesn't like to play there anymore plus the fact the surface is not quite helping her game and it's scheduled right after IW and before AI - so this is really alot of tennis in about 5 straight weeks.
Agree that it's all bout her atitude, but let her do what she wants - it's probably her last year and she wants to play in her favourite tourneys not in Miami where she hasn't played well since 2000...It is the same like skipping european claycourt season in a way...
Hope to see her soon showing her best and enjoying it...the best match so far this year was in AO 4th rd till 3-0:(
I'm sure we all want to see more of that Lindsay.

She hurt her leg in 2003 against Bartoli, and retired after losing the first set 6-0. Her knee wasn't the issue though.

That Hingis loss in 2000 was attributed more to the gusty winds than to an injury.

Welcome Emmanya :)

It was also closer than the scoreline indicates. As I recall, she blew like 7 game points to go down 0-3, then came back to 3-4, and then played a bad game to lose serve.

She is listed to play Dubai so i expect she will play if fit. I for one hope she does play as long as she is fully fit.

Go Linds:worship:

Welcome Emmanya and happy posting with us:D
