Do you think Amelie will at one point be number 1 this year???lolo21 Feb 10th, 2006, 09:01 PM i would love her to be number 1 again ,especially now that she has won the YEC and the AO! :) Allez Momo! :bounce: anlavalle Feb 10th, 2006, 09:03 PM I hope so too Corswandt Feb 10th, 2006, 09:04 PM Yes, definitely so. Marshmallow Feb 10th, 2006, 09:06 PM She has her best chance yet. She didn't perform that well last year, and so can pick up a lot of points this year, especially with this new found confidence. She lost quite early in places like doha, berlin, FO, Moscow, Indian wells, Eastbourne... and a few other places, and she can do much better in these places. So definetly she is in with a chance. Her only real threat, is that greaty, play everything - Clijsters. If Clijsters does well in Antwerp, and plays in palces like Dubai, and Doha - she could make life harder for Amelie. But Clijsters has Indian wells and Miami to defend, and her physical fitness is in question. I think Amelie will do it, and she can stay there much longer this year. I think she will. I really think she will, but we have to be patient. Drake1980 Feb 10th, 2006, 09:06 PM Yes she will!! Ceze Feb 10th, 2006, 09:08 PM yes she will! :bounce: Dexter Feb 10th, 2006, 09:09 PM yes, and it could be really soon Shenanigans Feb 10th, 2006, 09:11 PM Well maybe after Miami, Kim does not have alot to defend until IW and Miami, Amélie does Paris Final, Antwerp winner, SF doha or dubai, I don't think Amélie is playing IW and does not play any tournements on Green clay, so I think she will probably reach #1 before Wimbledon. Marshmallow Feb 10th, 2006, 09:13 PM Amelie should play IW. She lost in the second round! She can surely only gain point there. And oh look - 100% yes! :o Shenanigans Feb 10th, 2006, 09:16 PM Amelie should play IW. She lost in the second round! She can surely only gain point there. And oh look - 100% yes! :o I don't think she has ever really performed well there, I always get the impression with Amélie in March she is just hanging around waiting for the European clay court season to start. marmite1 Feb 10th, 2006, 09:27 PM yes mauresmofan Feb 10th, 2006, 09:30 PM I don't want Amélie playing a huge amount of tournaments to get the no.1 ranking. She has been injury free for a while *knocks on wood* but she was always suseptible to injuries. If it's meant to happen it will but I don't think she should chase it. hablo Feb 10th, 2006, 09:47 PM I hope so...but must we make this kind of poll so soon :p:shrug: Andrew.. Feb 10th, 2006, 09:50 PM It will be hard for her not to after Miami... SAEKeithSerena Feb 10th, 2006, 10:16 PM it depends on a lot of things. if clijsters comes back and defends her points, no, if not, i think her and mary pierce will fight for the number one through the first half of the year. Martian Stacey Feb 10th, 2006, 10:17 PM I think she can get there Hannah-Louise Feb 10th, 2006, 10:18 PM she will indeed! but i dont like to say when coz i aint gonna jinx her. shes already really close to it so hopefully soon. it would be ace though if she was number1 say around wimby!! ~ The Leopard ~ Feb 10th, 2006, 10:51 PM *Crossing fingers* Yes. faste5683 Feb 10th, 2006, 10:57 PM I think she's got a great chance...that girl has game! :wavey: Tennace Feb 10th, 2006, 11:44 PM Maybe but I said yes technique90 Feb 11th, 2006, 12:27 AM i think she will,, i hope so,, Kart Feb 11th, 2006, 12:29 AM If she stays fit she can definitely challenge for it . lauramariana Feb 11th, 2006, 12:37 AM YES http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y239/lauramariana/03www.gif Andy. Feb 11th, 2006, 01:19 AM Probably but i dont think she will finish the year as number 1. Orion Feb 11th, 2006, 01:43 AM She's got a big opportunity. She can improve her clay results from last year, if you ask me. She can do better at Indian Wells and Berlin for sure, and I'm going to go out on a limb and say she makes at least the quarters of Roland Garros. Her best bet is to retain all of her points from last year, maybe improve them a little, and make an assualt during the last four weeks, when she lost way early twice in a row. After that, she's got major points to defend, but at least she can set herself up as best as possible. Solitaire Feb 11th, 2006, 02:02 AM I don't see why not. Ghis Feb 11th, 2006, 06:35 AM Yes, she will... and she deserves it. Allez Amélie!! hingis-seles Feb 11th, 2006, 07:35 AM I certainly hope so! eck Feb 11th, 2006, 07:39 AM Well if she continues her level of play, she could be the woman to beat this year. LDF Feb 11th, 2006, 09:08 AM I'm almost certain she'll get it after Miami, if she manages to stay fit and keep this level of play up... Jenny.C.Fan Feb 11th, 2006, 10:51 AM Yep, go ame :) skanky~skanketta Feb 11th, 2006, 10:57 AM definitely and this time it will be very well deserved!she has loads she can gain at RG. sapir1434 Feb 11th, 2006, 11:02 AM I can see it :) honeyke Feb 11th, 2006, 11:17 AM maybe she will, but for sure i wish that kim defends the number 1 ranking :) BMP Feb 11th, 2006, 01:00 PM Sure she will!!! Amelie rocks! :rocker: Strangelove Feb 11th, 2006, 02:37 PM Only if Clijsters can repeat last year..and that's in doubt on so many levels So....yes, Amelie will probably be number one this year *Jool* Feb 11th, 2006, 02:50 PM I even think Amélie will be the player of 2006 :) she changed smiler Feb 11th, 2006, 02:53 PM I even think Amélie will be the player of 2006 :) she changed Let's hope so :) I like this thread *Jool* Feb 11th, 2006, 02:56 PM cool avatar smiler :yeah: (I dt really like Sveta but your avatar is good :) ) PaulieM Feb 11th, 2006, 03:01 PM i hope so. :) fammmmedspin Feb 11th, 2006, 03:17 PM Yes. I wouldn't bet on Kim's health - especially if she plays less than 3 weeks after limping off court with a hattrick of bad injuries. At the moment all the better players and most of the ones with a chance against her are simply incapable of playing a tournament without a bad match, two great matches in a row or enough good tennis to get to two finals in a row. Until Martina, Justine, Serena, venus, Elena, Nastya, Patty Jen, Maria or Lindsay start playing consistently good, uninjured tennis, or, Mary, who is also benefitting from a subpar top 10 actually wins a final against a top player, Momo is going to scoop up points. TheBoiledEgg Feb 11th, 2006, 03:18 PM playing like this :rolls: :tape: lost a 5-1 lead, had multiple set pts, now a set and break down in semi  Linnie Feb 11th, 2006, 04:10 PM She just won the second set :p Wsisters45 Feb 11th, 2006, 04:10 PM playing like this :rolls: :tape: lost a 5-1 lead, had multiple set pts, now a set and break down in semi  eat crow :haha: :haha: Ceze Feb 11th, 2006, 04:20 PM playing like this :rolls: :tape: lost a 5-1 lead, had multiple set pts, now a set and break down in semi :rolleyes: Tati is playing very well, and Amélie finally won the 2nd set, she faced a MP but held! :) Kunal Feb 11th, 2006, 04:39 PM noooo lauramariana Feb 11th, 2006, 05:03 PM playing like this :rolls: :tape: lost a 5-1 lead, had multiple set pts, now a set and break down in semi  ... and now???????? ;) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y239/lauramariana/allez.gif AMELIE! Ceze Feb 11th, 2006, 05:05 PM ... and now???????? ;) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y239/lauramariana/allez.gif AMELIE!well said  fammmmedspin Feb 11th, 2006, 05:32 PM eat crow :haha: :haha: Its not crow. TBE is just pointing out that Momo is still basically the same Momo - just one who is managing to take her chances against players who don't. Its just the phase we are in (though its getting like ground-hog day as it keeps on happening) The top 10 and the top 10 in exile are all underperforming through injury or inconsistency or both. That leaves just Mary and Momo who are actually playing near their best at all consistently (more so in Mary's case as she is playing the more unbeatable tennis till she wears herself out) The rising talents ranked from 11 to the mid 20s are sometimes good enough to take sets but not good enough to pull out the win even when Momo helps by having a mini-melt down. Golovin would be in the final now if she hadn't hit two nervy UE and two first serves long when momo errors gave her MP. it either goes on like this or some of the top players start playing well consistently or the rising players actually start taking their opportunities. Meanwhile I wouldn't be surprised if Mary blew away the field at the FO and the winner depends again on whether Mary runs out of energy before the trophy is hers. Ceze Feb 11th, 2006, 05:39 PM and noone argued about that, but the question is "Do you think Amelie will at one point be number 1 this year?" not "Do you think Amélie is the best player ever?" améliemomo Feb 11th, 2006, 05:43 PM and noone argued about that, but the question is "Do you think Amelie will at one point be number 1 this year?" not "Do you think Amélie is the best player ever?" +10 Shenanigans Feb 11th, 2006, 05:51 PM and noone argued about that, but the question is "Do you think Amelie will at one point be number 1 this year?" not "Do you think Amélie is the best player ever?" Exactly! Some people always look for a way to downgrade others achiements, always an if or but, but not logical, Amélie only is where she is cause players are either injured or not consistent enough so Amélie is consistent that's usually an attribute necessary to be a top player. What 's the others excuse for not being so consistent. hablo Feb 11th, 2006, 05:55 PM Exactly!
