"I really dominated. I stuck with my tactics and kept my concentration," Schnyder said. "I tried to change speeds on her backhand. I served well. That helps a lot in exchanges."

it was true on this day, at a Tier 2 QF with Lena tired out and not particularly motivated. But when Lena brings her A game, like at the USO, she owns Patty. The level of tennis Patty has shown since 2003 is good enough to beat most of the lower ranked players, but not usually good enough to beat the top players when they are motivated.

Having said that, tomorrow should be a very interesting match.

patty played great, granted elena didnt play her best but she didnt play aweful

patty's problem against the other top players is in her head, she needs to believe she can win and keep the effort up
that's what she did last year and that equals top 10 ranking

patty rules :worship:

Why should Elena be tired? She lost early in Australia which gave her a lot of rest time to play 2 weeks (3 weeks counting next week). I'm sure she's fine,Patty just played very well.

Interesting that Elena is "tired" after 1 week on winning, and you are making excuses for her. But the Williams Sisters, Sharapova, or even Justine fans could never use this excuse for their favorite. :o

Schnyder played better than Lena, and nearly always won her own serve games with some ease, but she didn't exactly "dominate". Particularly as the second set was decided by a single break (the only break point of the set, BTW), much like an ATP match. "Dominating" is what Lena did to Hingis at Tokyo, or what Schnyder did to Nastya at the AO.

That's why the oscars suck. Yay Cannes.
(Btw, I also love that movie)

And I believe Lena was tired. Tokyo was tough, she played a lot of three-set matchs.

I think Connelly deserved an Oscar too. It's good to see an actress as pretty as her doing some tough roles - especially the ending :tape:

I wasn't talking about right now, I am talking about anytime ever. Even when Venus went on to win Wimbledon (2 weeks), then World Team Tennis, then promontionaly things which is all like 4 weeks. Then she played Stanford (another week), which is 5 weeks. She completely melted in the finals and I thought she was tired. Many fans got mad at this statement for being tired after 4 weeks straight of tennis, but Elena plays one week of tennis and yep she is tired. It is alright.  :tape:

Patty can really let a player even more tired (those slices :o hate slices!!)

I am talking about 2005 Wimbledon, where the level of tennis was very very hard. Venus playing 4 weeks straight or Elena playing 1 week.

I am sorry but I couldn't really understand your post.

But, I think during that time Venus won about 7 (Wimbledon) + Some WTT + (3?) Stanford = 10 + WTT. Elena had like 4 or 5. But anyways, I am not saying Elena can't be tired but just goes to show that sometimes the Williams Sisters should be given the shadow of the doubt.

to say you dominated a match you won 3 and 3 isn't a particular controversial statements. she only really faced break chances early in the match and then held with relative ease and had many close games on Elena serve.

She didn't say - i'm better than Elena or anything.

Funny, after Wimbledon, I was one of the posters who said give Venus a break. As I recall it was Venus fans giving her a hard time in that period. She WAS tired.

As Elena was yesterday. But that's not the complete deciding factor in her matches with Patty. As a rule, no one is allowed to get more than two wins ahead in their head to head.

Lena's best shot (her inside-out fh) goes to PP's strength (her fh) with pace, which Patty Prefers.

Not necessarily true. Lena knows exactly how she has to play against Patty, but she was just worn out yesterday. And tennis strategy isn't your specialty. ;)
