Below is a list of 8 Russian girls. It does not go in order of ranking, but in order of who I truly feel the 8 most talented Russian players are. Out of curiosity, how would you rank these girls, from best to worst? They are posted in order of the highest ranked to lowest ranked. Happy ranking. :)

Myskina (really talented girl when in a good mood)
Dementieva (a robot from the baseline but poor serve)
Kuznetsova (great FH but very error-prone)
Sharapova (good one dimensionnal game, her best quality is her mental)
Petrova (all round game but mentally weak)
Zvonareva (she's got game but a head case)
Bovina (great serve and volleys but soooomany injuries)
Likhovtseva (she did the best with her abilities, no weeknesses but no weapons at all too)

that's the way I see it!! ;)

Rest of Russians are also very talented. I saw Bovina playing in Warsaw, once with Hantuchova, once with Clijsters and she was very impressive. I'm just not sure about her tactic on the court and her technical abilities but she must be good so she won couple of tournaments and outplayed many good players.

I don't have Kirilenko because she's so young and hasn't accomplished anything that anyone on this list has. Why not add Safina and Chakvetadze? Simple, they don't have the credentials of the other girls.

If I were to rank the 10 best Russian players, in my opinion of what they are capable of, it would go:

1. Kuznetsova. She's tremendously talented in every aspect of the game, has an insane ability to keep going, and is perhaps the best all-around tennis player today.

2. Sharapova. Her game isn't very deep, or multi-faceted, but she has tremendous groundies and a tremendous serve. Her movement is likely to improve, and she doesn't particularly need a net game, if you ask me.

3. Safina. This girl is mentally fragile, but if she gets herself together, she is capable of dismantling anyone at any level. She's also very solid as an all-around player, she has very few weaknesses.

4. Petrova. She's played a very consistently high level of tennis for almost three years. She makes it to the 2nd week of slams like a ritual, and she is rarely out before the semi's anywhere else. That serve is among the finest.

5. Myskina. For a girl without a tremendous serve, a big game, or the best physical fitness, Myskina can drive anyone nuts. She has a very multi-leveled game, and she has pinpoint precise groundies off both wings.

6. Dementieva. I'm really just not optimistic about that serve, but it's clear that Dementieva is the most athletic baseliner in recent years. She's got a forehand not dissimalar to Graf's, and a backhand that can trouble anyone.

7. Kirilenko. She's got game, she just doesn't know her way around the court yet. In two to three years, she can be a top 10 player, maybe even top 5 if she keeps improving. She's #7 on potential, really.

8. Likhovtseva. Not exceptionally graceful, fast, strong, or particularly cunning, Likhovtseva has carved out a very nice career for herself. She's among the finest doubles players in the world. Her best has come and gone, though.

9. Dushevina. She can become a top 20 challenger in the next year and a half. I like her game, and she's quite consistent. Not yet a giant killer, I think she's definitely on the rise.

10. Chakvetadze. I'm really including her because everyone thinks she can be the next big thing from Russia, but I've never seen her play. Sounds promising, though!

Maria is, in reality, American. She has lived most of her life here, and learned her tennis here. Does she even speak Russian? She needs to liberate herself from the Russinan players bitterness and jealousy of her and get onto the American Fed team.

1. Kuznetsova. Her recent performances might not show it, but I really think History will prove Sveta the best Russian of her "Russian Revolution" generation. She undoubtedly has more than a few Slam titles ahead of her.

2. Sharapova. Her game might be one-dimensional, but she's powerful enough (and tenacious enough) to be a top-ten player for several years. Will certainly Wimbledon again (and again).

3. Petrova. If she ever gets her head togther (and it looks like she just might sometime soon), she can definitely get some serious titles (including a slam or 2) under her belt ove rthe next several years.

4. Myskina/Dementieva. I simply can't separate these two in terms of talent. Both have odd strengths and glaring weaknesses. Elena will probably end up a one-slam-wonder just like Nastya. Two solid players (both of whom I like a great deal).

6. Zvonareva. Cry me a river over how many matches she's lost over mental weakness. She's got a great game, but she'll likely never figure out how to follow through.

7. Bovina. Great player. Can't wait to see her back in the saddle.

8. Likhovtseva. Solid, likeable player who actually predates the Revolution.

IMO, the reason why Masha is on top right now is because of her mental strength. And that's really a positive thing to have. Elena Dementieva can and has beaten everyone when she's on. She has unrivaled talent. Sveta can rival that talent in time.

2. Myskina: So smart and creative.
3. Petrova: The best all-around game, only her head gets in the way.
4. Dementieva: Amazing player without the serve.
5. Sharapova: When she adds more dimensions to her game her talent will truly show. ;)
6. Bovina: Good serve, good groundstrokes.
7. Zvonareva: Good all-around game, but lacks mental strength.
8. Likhovtseva: A.K.A. the veteran; good net game with a nice forehand.

I'll just rank only players whom I considered to be "talented" IMO :

Myskina - A powerful version of Hingis on her days = Perfect tennis

Kuznetsova - Martina N. said whe will become the grandslam champ in the future in 2003 and she did it the year after that!

Dementieva - I'm impressed by every of her wins against top players despite that serves!!

Bovina - She has the game but it's quite sad for her about those injuries

Sharapova - Quite clear with her talent, but she could have been better if she was not trained in Nick Bolleteri camp :P

Doushevina - This girl has the potential...watch out

Chakvetadze - I just feel like, there are something about this girl...she has a strong ambition to go to the top.

Andy.

1. Maria Sharapova- The best and i think will prove to be the best, is by far the most consistent of all the Russians and has done the most and will win more slams and be number 1.

2. Svetlana Kuznetsova- Extreamely talented just needs to put it together and will definatly challenge Masha over the next 10 years not only for Russian number 1 but world number 1 and can win more slams.

3. Anastasia Myskina- Great player that has achieved more than i expected and one of the best ever Russians, can definatly get back to the top 10 im not sure she will reach top 5 again but will be a challenger.

4. Elena Dementieva- Just as good as anyone just not consitent, is very Dangerous and can beat anyone

5. Nadia Petrova- Very consistant without being a serious slam threat but very much a solid top 10 player and capable of winning more titles

6. Maria Kirilenko- Very talented and gaining in confidence and experience i belive she will reach top 10

7.Dinara Safina- Same as Kirilenko

8. Elena Bovina- Has great weapons and a damaging all court game just needs her body to be healthy and she can do great things.

9. Elena Likhovtseva- Has had a very good career and had some good results and been one of the Russian journey women without being spectacular

10. Vera Zvonereva- Taleneted but mentally fragile, may never reach the lofty heights she was at in 2003 and 2004 but will be solid

11. Anna Chakvetadze- Emerging talent but yet to do any real damege will be a solid top 30 player
