Justine Henin-Hardenne has officially confirmed that she will be available for the fed cup meeting against Russia on April 22 and 23.

Hopefully she will be healthy by then!

With Kim by her side, things suddenly get really interesting. Is Maria confirmed for Russia? This could be loads of fun.

There you go ..... proof of my post about how dumb you are! :haha:

She didn't say that ... she said "if she was healthy she would play"!

So where does that say that she wasn't playing?

I know April is a long way off, but is there anyone else confirmed for either team. Isn't this the year that Masha is suposed to make her Fed Cup debut.

Anyone know why she's decided to play Fed Cup again? (and before we have another outbreak of the stupids, I KNOW she indicated she'd play if healthy before the AO)

Are you sure about that? One has a broken ankle and the other a something mysterious. I say the player who is healthy will win and no its no longer show up and win the match(es) either.

I am shocked that JuJu actually said she would play. Don't she have some undescribed illness? I mean we don't want other players to get infected with her mysterious illness....it would just destroy the tour.

imagine if JuJu and Masha meets up in a match.....how do you say "quit or die quitting" of God forbid if Vera Z is on the sidelines....they both will have a reason to quit........" that annoying B won't shut up with her booey booey ooey tears"

Justine For Fed Cup 2006
09/02/2006:

Last October, Justine revealed that Fed Cup was a huge possibility, but the decision was going to be made after the Australian leg of the tour in 2006. Justine has pondered this question, and has decided to be available for the Belgium squad on the condition that she must be in good health at the time of the Fed Cup meetings.

Justine will be working with Fed Cup captain Carl Maes, and the French speaking region's tennis president, Andrew Stein during the sessions.

The first Fed Cup tie (or matches) for the 2006 squad will be played in Belgium on April the 22 and 23, in Country Hall of Sart-Tilman , Southern Belgium at Liege. The Belgians will face off with the reigning title holder champions, the Russians. The Fed Cup event will be organized by Luigi Coduti.

Well If it is going to be on clay it should be Sveta she has beaten Kim on clay and should have beaten Justine.

I doubt Maria will be in the team then :tape:
The team should be Dementieva, Petrova (very good on clay), Myskina (gives her best for fed cup, RG winner) and maybe Likho for the doubles

Maria needs to tell her father that she is NOT Russian! She has lived just about all her life in the USA, where she learned how to play tennis. She needs to be liberated from the Russian bitterness towards her and become part of the American Fed team. That would elevate her desire for improvement and possibly, as well, the Williams sisters. Can you imagine them fighting it out for a place on the US Fed cup team? Could be lots of fun for us!

Maria was already playing competitive tennis at a very early age in russia even before she went to USA.

On the Topic;

Good for Justine and for Belgium..and i agree its a strategic move to win back some local fans.....

I hope she will be healthy and win the trophy for belgium!

Russia shouldn't chose clay (Maria :help: )Maria would do fine on clay, shes the only player from either side to make the 2nd week of the last 2 RG's. Underestimate her at your own risk.

Actually I Think the best russians for clay are sveta and elena, myskina is far away of her level at RG '04 and she lost her matches in the last final of the Fed cup

Sveta is a really good clay player so I'm pretty confident that she's going to be chosen. I'm not sure about Elena and Myskina.

Sveta is pretty good on every surface and I saw/ see her as Justine's number 1 concurrent on clay ( Warschau-final and RG), they should choose her IMO

So what? oh I think I know what she is going to do: in the decesive rubber she will play against Lena or Nastia and she will be losing and she will go of the match saying that her eye is hurting her

Well it's good that Justine will play now. But I'm really not sure Kim will be there now after her injury at the AO. From her fan diary on Tuesday:

The doctors have advised me to watch my schedule on a weekly basis anyway. I should alos be more aware of too much pressure on my joints. Sliding on clay is quite damaging and I might therefore avoid the clay tournaments.

Yeah, I really can't see her play, especially when Claude Eerdekens is still the Sports Minister ;)

Maybe Claude had a feeling Belgium would play Russia in Fed Cup and wanted to make sure the biggest threat on clay wouldn't be there
