Mary Pierce has entered the Proximus Diamond Games. The field now is one of the best in years. If Venus is going to grab the golden racquet, she is going to have to go through a field that includes

Kim Clijsters
Amelie Mauresmo
Mary Pierce
Nadia Petrova
Elena Dementieva
Patt Schnyder
Venus Williams
Fran Schiavone
Dani Hantuchova
Dinara Safina
Ana Ivanovic
Serena Williams

Go Venus, that's the greater way to grab YOUR Racket!!!!

That is a tough entry list for Venus. She won't be seeded to make the SF with ease, and could draw Kim or Amelie in her QF.

However there is a lot of drive and incentive for her to win the diamond racquet. If she wants it real bad, then she will do it.

or worse...if Serena passes her first round matche...She might play Venus in 2nd round..earliest time theyll meet since AO 1998...but who knows.

As a Venus fan, nothing makes me happier that all those players will be in Antwerp. I hope Venus and Mary meet and the caliber of play is the equivalent of their 2nd set at Wimbledon. :)

As much as I love Mary ... I dont think she can grab the racket from Venus.. she'd have to win it 3 years out of five, and I dont see that happenin.

But she sure can stop Venus from winning it this year! :bounce:

Wasn't that something? I thought that was the best set Mary Pierce played all last year, but she was in the wrong place at the wrong time against the wrong opponent. I would love to have that match on tape. ;)

Is this Venus' last year or chance to claim it?

Yep. If she doesn't do it this year, she starts from scratch in '07. ;)

Why are people counting Serena as Venus's rival? Aint it obvious that Serena entered to help Venus slay these other dragons?? Rotflmao.

No doubt...that was one of the, if not the, best set in the tournament I think! I remember during the tie break, Venus won a point and showed so much fire and drive...it was amazing to see Venus like that! AH I wish I had it on tape!!!

This is why we need quality points.
When I see fields like this, I don't know why players enter. This is a Tier II. I would sign up for Doha or Eastbourne where the fields are comparably much weaker and easier to gain points. There are five Grand Slam Champions and the rankings won't reflect the difference in competition when compared to Linz or Eastbourne. Come on.

But Venus is going to win. :]

Mary Pierce and Serena Williams perhaps they should try to hit each other with the raquet rather than the tennis ball
That would be more entertaining than bashing the tennis ball without aim.

Rooting for Venus right now isnt an option.
I still might look at draw before making decision but likely I will root for Venus at Dubai or Miami.
