She is trying for other source of income. Income from tennis make you injured.

who cares, she needs time to get in shape. she's serious about it and she doesn't want the injury to re-occur. when she is ready to come back, she will. in my opinion she shouldn't have even played the australian.

Would have been good to see her there, but if she aint ready, then fair enough.

Serena had plenty of time to get in shape in November and December, and the fact that she's in New York for Fashion Week should be a clear indication as to what she's serious about right now.

Will Serena attend this year's Grammy Awards? Last year, Serena played in the Open Gaz de France and withdrew from the tournament because she had a stomach infection and could not continue (Dinara Safina won the event). But, during the following weekend I saw pictures of her with a new weave and a revealing blue baby doll dress at Usher's Grammy party and she looked like she had gotten over her illness real fast.

I doubt Serena could be "slim" in just a matter of weeks.

I am not sour about anything, I just noticed that last year she withdrew from Paris with a stomach infection and then the next thing I saw was Serena at Usher's Grammy Party looking really good. I just hope she plays (and wins) in Belgium and/or Dubai because I am tired of people talking constantly about Serena (and Venus) not taking tennis seriously. But, hey, it is their life, so God Bless them.

That's right ....... and her fans have the cheek to slag off Justine! At least Justine took part in the final when she was sick! :fiery: :fiery:

Double-standards, double-standards. How soon some fans forget eh?

Oh, please. How dare you suggest that she should actually be playing tennis at this time?

Serena said she needed rest because she hadn't taken any rest from tennis in recent times. Take from that what any sensible person would.

How dare I suggest that a tennis player should be playing tennis during tennis season? That's a good question.

The only players who have taken more "rest from tennis" than Serena in the last year are Hingis (retirement) and Capriati (multiple shoulder surgeries). She doesn't need more rest; SHE NEEDS TO PLAY.

is it all Justine fans or just you that can't seem to figure out the difference between the importance of a tier II tournament and a grand slam final?

I think that was WS4EVER's attempt at sarcasm.....He/She belongs to the repetitive school of "why aren't they..." I'm surprised y'all haven't had lunch yet. :hehehe:

I hope this time is the time Serena will take it seriously and work hard.

I have no doubt that if Serena practices seriously and gets fit, she can come back and do very well. I think Martina Hingis may work to spur Serena's pride to put herself back into the mix to be one of the top players.

Heaven help us  Can't tennis fans get it through their heads that a SLAM (not a "grand slam", mind you, for that would be winning all four "slams", or "majors", during a calendar year) are a direct creation of the GOD
