I saw her the entire first set .... nah nah nah nah nah nah... but my driver was tired so we didnt see the 2nd Set. Mashona played very well. she hit a few aces and she has a lot of quickness on her serve. She is strikingly beautiful and very athletic. She runs fast to get balls and then strikes them, on the run, with surprising accuracy and speed, usually handcuffing the other player. Also, her drop shots are a big strength. I didnt really notice a majour weakness. She really played very well. She was very composed, she let the ball drop twice as they were inaccurate ball tosses. She also was probably nursing a minor foot injury, twice she nursed her foot. she also took a bit of time on her bench. She drank water and seemed to be working to control breathing and stay focused and it worked. She was excellent. Her opponent, a Croate name Luzac (something like that) hit too many double faults. She challenged at several points in the first set but it wasnt enough. Again she hit at least 7 double faults but i dont think that Mashona hit any. Very impressive player, i will be looking for more running forhand drive shots down the line from Mashona this week.
