I also remember that match last year in the USO when Maria said "Shut up, Dad!" when Yuri was loudly giving coaching advice while Maria was concentrating for serve.
Maybe the time is coming that Masha wants to fly with her own wings, I don't know if it's good or bad, though. On one hand I like the idea of Maria having a genuine coach but on the other hand, I fear parting from Yuri will destabilize her.

Don't know how much from that is true, but it can't be bad, it's good if Maria would want to do it on her own for a change, that would also help her grow as a player, but you can't really believe these rumors to much

That's an interesting article, i dont know what to say... I Mean, i believe the fact that maria would have had that little argument with her father after the henin-loss... But apart from that, who know's what will happen in the future....

It's not that I am giving full credit to that article, I'm just assuming that their relationship is maybe in a phase of degradation. There other signs about it like when Maria says publicly that she doesn't give a s**t (of course she doesn't state it with these words, lol) to what Yuri tells her during matches, it must be kinda tough to hear to Yuri.
Going her own path seems to be a good decision (I am really annoyed by those players like Kim or Lleyton whose parents follow everywhere they go at their age) but I remember when Hingis didn't want her mother to follow her anymore, she had a drought and then they came back together.
Anyway things are never comparable from one player to another.

Well like DrChemicalX, an argument between Maria and Yuri seems believable to me and under the circumstances, very understandable but I doubt it was that much of a big deal and went unresolved for days. I'm expecting to see Yuri in Tokyo. We'll see I guess. Her father didn't do anything horribly wrong. Heck, it's not even 100% proven it was him who shouted. Even if it was him, I'm sure Maria will understand it was done in the heat of the moment. Maria is no stranger to intensity and passion. I'm sure she'll get over what happened that's if she hasn't already. I happen to think she still needs her dad. I mean how many times in a match does she look over to him? Yuri's been her number one supporter from the beginning and Maria is aware of that. I think we'll be seeing Yuri for several more years. He does need to tone it down though when watching Maria's matches.

Does someone have that clip of Maria telling her dad to shut up in the Petrova match? lol...

If it is true im glad in a way. Yuri although he is a support he does bring her some negative attention and her puts a lot of pressure on her in matches and gets angry during them instead of being her really support to look to when she is down. I would like to see her at a tourni along maybe she would be more relaxed and have a bit more fun.

i think its "be quiet dad" not "shut up dad"

dunno how i feel about this article
i feel so so about yuri,i think he's not that bad
if i were him, maybe i'd do the same thing, sometimes i cant control myself during her match so i can imagine what's he feeling in that moment :)

I wouldnt read to much into this article...Im sure Maria has been unhappy with Yuri's behaviour in the past but they move on. I'd be surprised if Maria was able to keep Yuri from being there in Tokyo.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did have a bit of a tiff over this! Remember Maria is still a teenager, she is gonna have her fights with her father and she has kinda hinted before and shown that she doesn't really like him getting to worked up and yelling out and stuff in her matches so who knows! Personally I would like to see/hear them have a little fight, very entertaining in my opinion, plus it shows that they are both humans!

Well I hope it is true to an extent because it shows Maria isn't frightened to put Yuri in his place. If the article is accurate I can't believe it was anything more than a minor quarrel they have an incredibly close relationship. Yuri needs to keep a lower profile from now on, his almost celebrity like status is an unneeded distraction for Maria.
