Now there's a backfisted compliment ...

Very good ranking points snapshot, Volcana. By the way, where do you get players' last year points? I used to get them from Jannak's site, 'WTA - One Year' link, but lately, nada. That link redirects me to some Crosswinds.net site. Any other source?

Click on "Rankings"
Click on "Ranking Points"
For the top 100 players (I think), you'll notice that their ranking points are listed. Youmay not have noticed that the number are a link. Click the ranking point number itself, and it will bring you to a breakdown of that players ranking by tournament.

Jannaks site still works..
Jelena didnt play her match today did she??
well Serena has a great chance to get up to number 3 by RG and Henin has a great chance at number 5 thats great!

Many thanks, Volcana. I really appreciate it.
By the way, Dokic#1
Jannaks site still works.
Yes it does, but please go to that site, try the following link and let me know: 'Current Rankings' heading - 'One Year' link. Maybe my firewall is blocking it.

Dokic d Pierce

There is an error there.
Justine is earning 46 points, but as her 17th best results is 59 points she isn't adding anything for this tournamet.
it's simply = 3112 - 210 + 59 = 2961. She will start adding points when she has more than 59 points. Dokic's point are right but the breakdown is wrong.
she has now 3074 - 32 + 40 - 8 = 3074.
That is because the 32 points she earned last year weren't computed towards her ranking neither are the 40 points she has earned so far.
more correct for Justine would be: 3112 -210 + 46 + 13 = 2961.
Kim is 3699 as she has one point off from another tournament, she didn't play Berlin but she does have points off.
Serena, Monica and Lindsay are correct.
May 8th, 2002, 09:43 PM
So, that means that Justine or Jelena winning it put Martina in #8:eek:
Serena has good chances to become n#3, but this is a difficult court, and there is a lot of good players.
Good luck Serena and Jelena:wavey:

*03 3699 = 3699 - 0000 (because not best 17) + 0000 (because not best 17) K.CLIJSTERS
04 3424 = 3363 - 0000 + 0061 S.WILLIAMS (3rd round)
*08 3074 = 3074 - 0000 (because not best 17) + 0000 (because 40 is not better than 69 [current 17th]) J.DOKIC (3rd round)
*09 2961 = 3112 - 0210 + 59 (better of 46 or 59 [new 17th]) J.HENIN (3rd round)
* need to be corrected
if she wins beating (SCHETT + MALEEVA + MAURESMO + DOKIC + CAPRIATI)
max points = 3363 - 0000 + (275 + 23 + 15 + 43 + 43 + 75)
= 3363 - 0000 + 474 = 3837
= she will be #3
if she wins beating (PIERCE + HANTUCHOVA + SMASHNOVA + WILLIAMS + CAPRIATI)
max points = 3074 - 0000 + (275 + 2 + 35 + 15 + 50 + 75) - current 17th
= 3074 - 0000 + 452 - 69 = 3457
= she will be #4 (if S.WILLIAMS loses in 3r) or #5 (if S.WILLIAMS makes qf or better)
if she wins beating (MUELLER + LIKHOVTSEVA + SANCHEZ-VICARIO + CAPRIATI + WILLIAMS)
max points = 3112 - 0210 + (275 + 8 + 10 + 23 + 75 + 50)
= 3112 - 0210 + 441 = 3343
= she will be #7
M.HINGIS can end up no lower than #8 because if:
a. J.DOKIC wins then J.HENIN can have max of 3211
b. J.HENIN wins then J.DOKIC can have max of 3300
so therefore J.DOKIC and J.HENIN cannot both pass M.HINGIS, only one of them can
This is all assuming my math is correct. ;)

From what I can tell, if Serena wins her third round match and even if she does not win the next she will have put enough distance between herself and the others to claim the #4 seed at the French. Moreover, she still can gain points at the Italian Open not to mention getting past the quarters at Berlin. This will help her a lot at the French.
Oui :bounce: Oui:bounce: Serena

Darkheart, Justine's 17th result is 59, not 69. She has two 59 points: Paris and Hamburg
May 9th, 2002, 01:36 AM
I don't see where I gave Justine 69 points instead of 59.
May 9th, 2002, 01:57 AM
were you referring to Dokic?
May 9th, 2002, 02:09 AM
In your previous post you said I gave Justine 69 points but I didn't.
May 9th, 2002, 02:33 AM
The initial post is now, if not correct, inaccurate in a different way. Thanks for the tips.
May 9th, 2002, 02:53 AM
Darkhear, when you mentioned 69 points being the 17th result I thought you were referring to Justine, I got it wrong.
May 9th, 2002, 03:01 AM
I just wanted to get it correct. :)

Interesting... looks like we we'll probably see only 1 movement in the top 10 this week, either that, or we may not even see a movement.
BTW, unless Amelie wins this tournament, she is falling out of the top 10.
May 9th, 2002, 10:31 PM
Movement this week ( Iadded 10 through 20 becasue so mant high ranked players were losing.
Hantuchova has slipped up another spot or two. She should be ranked #13 next week. Top Ten, anyone?
Speaking of top ten, there's been a change, at a least temporarily. Sandrine has 2174 points and counting, Amelie has 1871. Amelie woulds have to win the tournament to protect her ranking, I think.
Justine is only 85 points out of#8. But her next opponent, nathalie Dechy, doesn't carry enough bonus points to push Justine over the top. To move up, she has to make the finals.
May 9th, 2002, 11:24 PM
It would be great if Serena could get the number 3 Ranking. Who knows what will happen at RG.
If things go well Venus and Serena might be ranked 1 & 2 at Wimbledon. That will be an outstanding achievement for the Williams family.
May 10th, 2002, 12:00 AM
Because she won't have enough bonus points, I don't think Henin could go higher than #8, even by winning the tournament, which is a shame :(

tennezfan001 - I'm not a fan's dream. The people who run these websites are.
http://www.itftennis.com - That's the International Tennis Federation Website. Great for researching head-to-head data.
http://www.geocities.com/jannak36/jannak.htm - A labor of love. And a great tennis wensite.
http://www.tenniscorner.net - Pure stats.
http://www.sanexwta.com - "Live! From beautoiful downtown St. Petersburg...."
May 10th, 2002, 03:16 AM
Jannak's site is great. But lately the ranking points are not updated.
I like also tennis.net ;)
May 10th, 2002, 12:19 PM
Serena is quite close to the number 3 ranking now... :D
May 10th, 2002, 02:05 PM
As long as Kim takes the #3 or #4 seed at RG, it's all good :)
used 18th points as well in case of points taken off (added 18th on where 18th is more than 1pt)
todays matches where results in been added NOW ALL
May 10th, 2002, 02:50 PM
TheBoiledEgg - Jenn points are wrong, I don't think she has more than 4449 right now- she was defending 293 points.
May 10th, 2002, 03:21 PM
thanx for spotting that........ it was a typo, it should be 4429 not 4529
i had taken points off but didnt check back closely after i posted
May 10th, 2002, 04:21 PM
Updated as of the QFs
Serena's bonus point situation is totally in the tank. She can still take #3, but she has to win the tournament, and she has to beat Jenn doing it. Justine doesn't carry enough bonus points.
Yes she does. Thanks Eggy.
3766 = WIN (151) + Anna (15) + Jenn (75) + Curr (3525)
3734 = WIN (151) + Anna (15) + Justine (43) + Curr (3525)
3699 = KIM
3609 = WIN (151) + Anna (15) + Curr (3525)
Except for her opponents, Justine is in an excellent position. True she can't move up. Nut winning the tournament would do wonders for her confidence, and points-wise would basically tie her with Martina, Lindsay and Monica.
