w/ mauresmo as defending champion and sandrine only a mere 100 points behind her, sandrine has an excellent chance of returning to the top 10 in its final spot. amelie is losing 483 pts., sandrine is losing 61 and losing 59 in her 18th tournament, for a total of 120. if sandrine loses in round 2 (her first match), amelie must make it to the semifinals or better in order to keep her ranking. if sandrine wins her second round match, amelie must make it to the finals. if sandrine reaches the QFs, she is guaranteed a spot in the top 10. interesting things are happening in the top 10 right now, this is only one of those.

Thanks, Nifty....I had no idea Sandrine was that close!
Just so you know, we Marines are planning a champagne celebration in our lounge just in case it happens this week. Feel free to join us in some bubbly if the occasion arises. ;)

Both Sandrine and Amelie have won their second-round matches...
Sandrine next plays Marie-Gaianeh Mikaelian, while Amelie has a tough opponent in Silvia Farina Elia.
Glad to see there are some Sandrine fans out there! I appreciate her consistency...everyone looks at those who win, but if you can at least get to the quarters or 16's at most of your tournaments, that's something special, too.
