maria has found out that her pectoral muscle injury infact is a dislocated rib problem! maria now says the rib cant get any worse, so she will have to grit out the pain to play! there was no indication if this rib injury will be healing soon(but i presume now that they know what it is it can be fixed)or whether this is the shoulder injury cause i read somewhere that maria had a shoulder injury(non pectoral) and a rib injury too, but this was before she made the statement last night, so i dont know, but now maria knows she cant make it any worse her standard of play should go up, presuming she grits out the pain! and also maria said she wouldnt be perfect in her first round but would improve from there!
so good luck maria, and if i could take the pain away i would!
were all rooting for you maria!

Sounds horrible, a dislocated rib :bolt:

I hope now they can fix this as soon as possible

But I don't like the idea of her playing in pain :(

Maria should be able to get a bit of relief from the pain but itll still be tough but we know she has the heart to do it.
Just listen for me yelling 'Cmon Masha' (rather than 'Cmon Maria') on TV

Well. At least we know why the problem kept returning, even though it didn't show up on the scans.

I really hope it can be sorted easily and Masha can get back to full fitness.

You better shout really LOUD!

PS> The Aussie crowds didn't seem to be big fans of Masha last year - at least compared to other places she goes. Any idea why?

I will be loud  If we get a match or 2 on Vodafone Arena then we can get a bit of a group together...

..and about the Aussie crowd, i think a lot of ppl like Maria and she is popular but the crowds tend to pick the player who is unlikely to win and back them...there are a fair share of Maria fans though but there'll always be the idiots who call out things and laugh etc and always get noticed more than the others.

Lets hope Maria's injury problems will be sorted now. It's really amazing what she achieved in 2005 having that dislocated rib all year!
