i was waiting for a year for Nastya to come and play in Sydney. when i found out she wasn't playing singles this year i was upset but then i found she was going to play doubles with Safina. so i went yesterday, checking out the other matches for 6 hours, waiting patiently for Nastya's doubles match.. only to find some other pair playing instead of them when the match was supposed to start. i didn't even know Safina got injured earlier.. but out of all the people that could've been injured, why her? *sighs* it's not fair.. my only chance to see nastya in action gone.

Oh that truly sucks :( Did you see her in practice at least? That is a lot better than most of us can hope for! Maybe you can go to Melbourne one year? I was patiently waiting and hoping Nastya would come to Auckland. But she never did, and she probably never will.

MC Kola, you should take martirogi's advice and go look for her at practice. A good chance to get a picture with her. She's nice that way.

That is too bad. That will never happen to me since there are no WTA tournaments aside from Philly anywhere close to me. Closest women's event is at my college but that is a challenger.

I feel so sorry for you. Maybe she will come next year??? I live in Melbourne so I will be lucky enough to see her. I saw her last year. She tried to steal my texta :haha:

Really? Didn't know that. Now the closest event to me would be the US Open I suppose.

Too bad. However I am sure will be back by next year. Donīt you guys have those cheap-airlines where you can just hop on for like US$20? Get a ground pass as she wonīt play on the big courts anway (except she meets Hingis in round one) and you certainly have a family member or friend in Melbourne where you can stay. Maybe a bit too late for everything but well...;)

This was the last year for the Advanta at Philly, because the YEC was moved to Madrid this year. :(

I considered going this year to cheer on Vera Z. and Elena D., but decided at the last minute to pass on it. I didn't know at the time it was the last tournament there.

That first-round thing with Hingis was just a joke (a reasonable one?) one from me. Donīt you worry!

But hey, see! Now you will go to the AusOpen, I mean thatīs hundred times cooler than Sydney cause at least Nastya will play there and probably up to three competitions. I am happy for you!

If you talk to Anastasia, pls tell her I missed her  at San Diego last year (I'm an usher at the Acura Classic). For reasons unknown, she played a Tier IV in Stockholm instead. I asked Elena D. why she wasn't there, and Lena said, "I don't know. She likes this tournament."
Maybe she had to stay with her mother.

Thanks. Concerning your question: According to Matt Cronin because of her mum and the money she would get. Officially because she wanted to play in Stockholm for a change (chose your own truth...LOL)

@Martirogi: I expect great things from Nastya as long as sheīs physically and - even more importantly - mentally in shape.

And no Lena D before the semis!

(Because we all know they're going to make it that far, right?)

Actually, Vera Zvonareva drew Martina for the 1st Round!! Could get interesting!!!

Nastya's in the other 1/4 of the bottom half, and plays Yuliana Fedak in the 1R. Dementieva and Sharapova are on a collision course in the lower 1/4 of the top half (but not till QF).

Oh, very unhappy!
I'm upset for you! I undestand your sadness!
I hope that you will see Nastya next year!
She is so nice on court! I went this year to Roland Garros to see her!
Many chilometers for me, but i've been recompensed!
If you see Nastya directly, your really risk is falling in love with her, as happened to me!
Bye
