Hanttuchova has had some stunning results but I guess the lesser known-ranked 'young guns' this year have to be from Russia.
Safina, Zvoreneva, Kutzentcova and too a smaller degree Shaparova have all made headlines.
Although they are all so young, some highjly fabcied players haven't made so much progress this year, well as much as expected.
Salerni MJ Martinez Hsieh and Kapros have really struggled, whilst C Fernandez Muller Widjaja and Razzano have only recently turned things around. Bedanova Marrero Gubasci & MiKaelian have been steady, not spectacular.
Danillidou has been impressive as well.

Allt hese girls are so much fun to watch and I hope Salerni, Martinez and Kapros cabn turn it around.
I guess it is hard for a 2nd year rookie. IN Kapros and MJ Martinez case, they do need to get fitter though

It's weird, tennis. Some become stars, and some just don't! It's not fair then, but I guess it is!

What about Clijsters?

Yes...the best young gun IMO is the 18-year old KIM CLIJSTERS ;)
