not true, unless I'm looking at cached web pages.....

what do you take people for? She has a sprained ankle and the French is 3 weeks away..........

May 6th, 2002, 10:33 PM
it is for the best. Martina is great on clay and she will have plenty of chances to win it. Right now, she needs to get healthy. Apparently foot and ankle problems have been bothering her for quite a while.

Get well soon Martina! :)

May 6th, 2002, 10:38 PM
not the BBC website, I heard it was on the BBC radio. And this is nothing to joke about.

May 6th, 2002, 10:44 PM
If this is true, very disappointing

May 6th, 2002, 10:52 PM
Oh no, Martina get well soon, and to all her fans, please don't be upset, Martina will be back

May 6th, 2002, 10:52 PM
BBC Radio probably got it wrong, confusing it with the German Open.

There'd be something on a website somewhere..........;

May 6th, 2002, 11:00 PM
It might be wrong, but then again it might be correct. Also Hingis' website is reporting that she is doubtful for the French Open.

May 7th, 2002, 06:26 AM
My gosh im not even a fan but im shocked. Poor girl, get well, hope there's till a chance for her to make it.

May 7th, 2002, 06:26 AM
we still need to get confirmation about this...I'm still hoping she could compete at RG. :bounce:

May 7th, 2002, 06:53 AM
No confirmation of any surgery for Hingis has been posted on any internet news site as of May 6.

So, for now, she may just have an ankle sprain.

May 7th, 2002, 06:54 AM
the bbc is famous for getting wrong facts!

I hope BBC is wrong...Martina has to play the French Open. And if she pulls out, Roland Garros would mean nothing to me...

Anton, you got banned from hingis.org?
Good Job Markus

Markus runs a tight ship:wavey:

Yes Martina has a foot injury, though not as serious as the one which plagued her 2001/2002. She has decided to pull out of the German Open and return to Switzerland I think. There she will meet her Physiotherapist and her Doctor to inspect and investigate. If it needs Operation she is to miss the The French Open and there is a chance she may not play Wimbeldon either.

Though if nothing as serious she can play the Italian Open, So get good rest Martina!:wavey:

I don't think so... she might not be in top condition, but I'm sure she'd compete at RG...

SerenasMelons - thanks for the compliment! ;) Send me a picture of Serena and I'll see if I can enhance her, erm, melons...

May 7th, 2002, 01:46 PM
Oh Marti:sad:

May 7th, 2002, 03:03 PM
This statement is premature at the moment...for the following reasons: 1. She has not been examined by her doctor 2. No official word has been received on this 3. Its all speculation at this point in time 4. Injury may not be as bad as everybody thinks.:D

So we can only hope and pray that the next official word on Martina's injury will be indeed good news and that she will be able to get back to playing in Rome shortly!! Good luck, Marti:D

May 7th, 2002, 06:27 PM
if the case is that she will be able to play the Italian, i think she should sit it out, so she wno't re-injur it.

Well until I see it in writing, I think it's safe to assume that she will play. Think about it, Hingis's withdrawal would be a huge chunk of news. It would already be on Yahoo.

May 7th, 2002, 08:19 PM
that site sucks anyway. I said that I did not think MArtina would get back to #1 and you people went beserk.
Martina needs to practice her serve. It's a fact.

If it's true it's sad news, but I'm sure she'll come back strong :).

May 7th, 2002, 08:27 PM
can we just make sure that before you post a headline like this you are as certain as you can be?

I almost had a heart attack this mornign when I saw this thread.
I'm not a big hingis fan, but would be very sad to see her out of the french. so I can only imagine what the hingis fans feel like when they see a thread like this.
so lets save the big headline until we're sure...

May 7th, 2002, 11:41 PM
1 of the sources of this is FROM a top hingis website so Hingis many fans mostly already know there is talk about this.
