it is for the best. Martina is great on clay and she will have plenty of chances to win it. Right now, she needs to get healthy. Apparently foot and ankle problems have been bothering her for quite a while.

Get well soon Martina! :)

BBC Radio probably got it wrong, confusing it with the German Open.

There'd be something on a website somewhere..........;

It might be wrong, but then again it might be correct. Also Hingis' website is reporting that she is doubtful for the French Open.

No confirmation of any surgery for Hingis has been posted on any internet news site as of May 6.

So, for now, she may just have an ankle sprain.

I hope BBC is wrong...Martina has to play the French Open. And if she pulls out, Roland Garros would mean nothing to me...

Anton, you got banned from hingis.org?
Good Job Markus
You should learn not to repeat stuff that offends us,

Yes Martina has a foot injury, though not as serious as the one which plagued her 2001/2002. She has decided to pull out of the German Open and return to Switzerland I think. There she will meet her Physiotherapist and her Doctor to inspect and investigate. If it needs Operation she is to miss the The French Open and there is a chance she may not play Wimbeldon either.

Though if nothing as serious she can play the Italian Open, So get good rest Martina!:wavey:

I don't think so... she might not be in top condition, but I'm sure she'd compete at RG...

This statement is premature at the moment...for the following reasons: 1. She has not been examined by her doctor 2. No official word has been received on this 3. Its all speculation at this point in time 4. Injury may not be as bad as everybody thinks.:D

So we can only hope and pray that the next official word on Martina's injury will be indeed good news and that she will be able to get back to playing in Rome shortly!! Good luck, Marti:D

if the case is that she will be able to play the Italian, i think she should sit it out, so she wno't re-injur it.

Well until I see it in writing, I think it's safe to assume that she will play. Think about it, Hingis's withdrawal would be a huge chunk of news. It would already be on Yahoo.

that site sucks anyway. I said that I did not think MArtina would get back to #1 and you people went beserk.
Martina needs to practice her serve. It's a fact.

can we just make sure that before you post a headline like this you are as certain as you can be?

I almost had a heart attack this mornign when I saw this thread.
I'm not a big hingis fan, but would be very sad to see her out of the french. so I can only imagine what the hingis fans feel like when they see a thread like this.
so lets save the big headline until we're sure...

1 of the sources of this is FROM a top hingis website so Hingis many fans mostly already know there is talk about this.
