Ivanovic is still there, I think
But Likhovseta may have ranked higher considering she did play this week.
Ivanovic did too, but Hopman Cups don't add any ranking points to WTA or ATP rankings.

ah good, you gave me a heart attack.
But regardles of Ana playing a ranking tournament or not - she is ranked higher then Likhotseva and SHOULD be seeded. The official ranking for are not released untill monday.
So Ana is being snubed in Sydney - Elena does not deserve to be seeded - its only fair - now that she's not a seed she'll probably draw Clajsters in the second round.
Ana's share of bad luck continues - they were one match away from making the final - and now she might lose in the first round coz of this dodgy mess-up in seedings. But I have a feeling she might have withdrawn - to tired after those 6 matches.

There was a thread yesterday saying the WTA site still had the old rankings. i thought they were using the old ones for entry still and the new ones for seedings? But if there are no new rankings yet what else could sydney use this week but the old ones?

They are using the most recent Published Ranks.

New Ranks dont come out until Jan 09

But...they used the new rankings to seed Gold Coast and Auckland.

Come to think of it, don't quote me on this one, One of the commentators in the Hopman Cup (Fred Stolle I think) said Ivanovic was heading to Melbourne next week (week after HC). Not that he would know anything about Ivanovic, but it is a speculation that she might not be in Medibank International. But her site says she would be... so...
