I'll start...

The latest album's I have picked up are:

Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is

http://cover6.cduniverse.com/MuzeAudioArt/590/592412.jpg

Rating: 9/10

I really liked this album. I was able to listen through this cd without skipping a song as soon as I bought it. She has pumping vocals, and is relatable, overall it was a good album.

Chris Brown: Chris Brown

http://cover6.cduniverse.com/MuzeAudioArt/600/602901.jpg

Rating: 8/10

I had to listen to this album a couple of times before I actually liked it. My favourite songs right now are "Yo (excuse me miss), young love, and Is this love. I wouldn't normally go out and buy this type of cd, but I got it for a gift, and gave it a chance. It was not bad, but some of the songs become repetitive.

Alicia Keys: Unplugged

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000B5IPLK.01._PE29_SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Rating: 8/10

If you're an Alicia Keys fan, this is a must have. When she sings live, she gives me goosebumps. This album has a couple of new renditions including "If I was your woman". My favourite song is "stolen moments". It's a definite, good buy.

Missy Elliott: The Cookbook

http://www.artistdirect.com/Images/artd/amg/music/cover/3233813_me_200.jpg

Rating: 5/10

This album was kind of boring for me. There were only a few good songs in my opinion. Everything was bad lyrics wise. None of the songs can come close to her other hits. The work on this album does not seem like quality work for Missy Elliott standards.

I also got

Omarion: O

I would rate that 4/10.

Touch is the only real good song. Aside from that, he just doesn't sing well on this album.

This is my last album as well. I'd give it a 8/10 as well. Though I think his 'speech' on some of the songs is annoying. He seems to swallow some words. The album is nothing special, but easy to listen to, and fun. It's an 'OK' first effort for young Mr. Brown.

SHAKIRA: Oral Fixation Vol. 2
http://www.sonymusicstore.com/coverimages/SME_0101_EK_097708.70Q_200x200_72dpi_RGB.jpg
My Rating: 7.5/10

Brilliant and clever lyrics especially on Illegal, How Do You Do and Timor. The first 5 songs on the album are the best. I think some of the songs are lacking that 'umph' that Shakira has in her native tongue. I think I prefer Oral Fijacion Vol 1. more (which I give 8.5/10) but this one is still a good album with not much to complain about.

I always wondered how the Shakira album was. But it seemed like too much of a risky buy...

I found the exact same thing. In most of his songs, he would slur a sentance together, and you can't really understand what he is saying.

Amerie: Touch

8/10 - If you feel the whole "Go-Go" style of music, you should get this album. One of my fav albums of 05.

Hardi-Fi- Star Of CCTV 10/10 This album is just damn good music
Fiona Apple- Extraordinary Machine 9/10 Some of the songs are Fiona perfection like Used To Love Him and Not Above Love, but a couple just drag on a little bit. Aside from that its great; I love her voice

I'll be the pop reviewer in here. The last album I bought was Chemistry by Girls Aloud (the special christmas edition one)

http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B000BYY1BE.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

10/10 - It is the SHIT.

If you're a fan of pop music... this was one of the best pop albums of 2005. Produced by Xenomania, the album is full of great pop tracks. I actually prefer it to their second album "What Will The Neighbours Say"... overall, it's much more consistent. 9 out of the 12 songs are fantastic... the other 3 are listenable/borderline filler. ;) My favourites include:

1) Watch Me Go
2) Waiting
3) Biology
4) Models
5) Wild Horses

Download a couple of the above if you want a taster.

:p

Also, if you're going to buy it, don't get this edition, as the Christmas songs are about as good as my arse. I didnt include them in my rating. ;)

her best album was ...so addictive by far. it's so weird, i was just going through old cd's i had (jay-z's blue album was great too) and i found that one...popped it in and now i can't stop listening to it.

it's sad to see her quality has dropped. she's not one of my favorites, but this album is classic

Just thought I'd revive this thread! Plus I have been listening to a lot of new sort of indie bands lately and wanted to share!

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/43/Dear_science_album_cover.jpg
TV On The Radio - Dear Science

My friend recommended this one to me and I was a bit skeptical after doing a quick track run through on itunes. But after listening through it twice I loved it! My favourite tracks right now Dancing Choose, Family Tree, and Love Dog

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/bb/John_Legend_Evolver.jpg
John Legend - Evolver

I'm usually a fan of John's work. At first listen I thought this album was amazing! But then after playing it out for a couple of weeks I don't think it will have the same longevity as some of his other albums. Some of the songs are very catchy though! My favourite tracks are Green Light (played out...I know!), It's Over, Everybody Knows, Take me away, and I love you love.

http://meninasridiculas.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/adele19.jpg
Adele 19

Okay, so I have had this album for a while now and still listen to it very often. I was just stunned the other day when I was asking a couple of friends if they knew who she was and they were absolutely clueless. I am not going to write a whole essay on this album but all I will say is don't sleep on Adele. She's extremely talented and has a lot of potential to make many more great albums. My favourite tracks are Chasing Pavements, Cold Shoulder, Melt My Heart To Stone, and Hometown Glory. But the whole album is awesome, really.

Chara - honey

1. Sumire
2. TROPHY
3. Labrador
4. Cherry Cherry
5. Remember Love
6. Marmalade
7. Know Me
8. Blue Fragments
9. And, I'm Unreachable
10. Sweet & Spicy
11. Apparently I'm Crying
12. MAHA
13. call me

Best album I've heard in a long, long, long time. I'm a huge fan of international music, and since this album is almost entirely in Japanese, many people pass up music they really can't understand, although I think this represents Chara at her best. She's had a LONG career, and she gets better with age. I still can't believe she's over 40, she looks about 19. She doesn't appear on the album cover though, it's her daughter (whose name is Sumire). She blends funk, cheery synth beats, hip hop and rock in a flawless way that sounds like ice cream. So smooth, I can't put it any other way.

10/10.

Favorite tracks: Cherry Cherry, And, I'm Unreachable, Blue Fragments, call me

1.Girls
2.You on a Good Day
3.No Can Do
4.Hanging on a Star
5.Side Chick
6.Unbreakable Heart
7.Sunday Rain
8.Every Heart Broken (Murder 1)
9.Beware
10.Nothing's as Good as You
11.Sound of Goodbye
12.Can We Call a Truce

Its a great very mature pop record. The whole album is very ballad heavy which can be a bad thing but in this case its a good thing. Beware sounds like a geat Bond theme. The four best songs are Every Broken Heart(Murder 1), Nothing as Good as You, Sound of Goodbye, No Can Do, and Can We Call a Truce. The worlds current highest selling female group definately delivered with this album.

Deerhunter - Microcastle/Weird Era Continued
http://assets1.pitchforkmedia.com/images/original/146627.microcastleweirderacont.gif

9.4/10

This is such an incredible album, out only a couple weeks ago. Bradford Cox is such a mastermind. They really find their sound on this one (which, if you weren't aware, somehow mixes ambient with garage/grunge/feedback rock to perfection). Definitely a contender along with Portishead, M83, TV On The Radio and Wolf Parade for album of 2008. Genius. Favourite songs are "Agoraphobia", "Never Stop", "Nothing Ever Happened".
And the Weird Era Continued bonus tracks are not just filler, "Operation" has stuck in my mind recently. If you want to be on top of what indie reviewers/etc. will be hyping up huge for the rest of the year, check out this album.

The Knife - Silent Shout
http://bp3.blogger.com/_pIQdjB19klI/RrAXtCohEAI/AAAAAAAABMc/Q_adPF6UBBI/s320/The+Knife+-+Silent+shout.jpg
9.1/10

This is such a stunner of 2006, it's a mix of heady electronic, Bjork-influenced, house-dance-mixed MUSIC that hits you in the face, gets you emotional, makes you dance (at times it's impossible not to) and at other times just stops you in awe. The female vocals of the brother-sister act are just shockingly beautiful yet haunting. Really, they make one of the albums of the decade with this one. "Marble House", "Like A Pen", "Silent Shout", "Forest Families", they're all good.

DISCLAIMER: Karim, you are getting this album if you don't got it. You need it.

Missy Elliott - Respect M.E.
http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/8296/missyelliott1kd5.jpg
9.3/10

It's funny you were listening to the Cookbook when you first made this thread, because I've been on a Missy binge lately. Beats hotter than anyone in hip hop, that voice, WORK IT, those beats, WORK IT, the excitement you get when listening to this woman make the best damn hip hop on the planet. And WORK IT. Fuck that song is so good, I say blah blah blah. *Goes to listen immediately*
Normally greatest hits albums are whatever, but it works perfectly for M.E.

Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles
http://www.residentadvisor.net/images/reviews/2008/crystal-castles.jpg
8.8/10

I'm addicted to this, as well, okay? This just gets me going, gets me happy. Electronic from Torontonians that just, hits the spot? Alice Glass was just named NME's #1 Coolest person of 2008, not that that means that much, seeing as NME is a pile of shit most often, but still I need to see them live. "Courtship Date", "Magic Spells", "Crimewave (HEALTH vs. Crystal Castles)" are all standouts.

^^ Deerhunter's album is fantastic, isn't it? :hearts: My 2nd favourite album of the year after TV on the Radio, I think.

The other albums I've got in heavy rotation at the moment are 'Out of Control' by Girls Aloud and Fleet Foxes' eponymous record.

Yes, it is! So so good.

I saw Fleet Foxes in Seattle after my first time smoking some weed, and I was just not in the right place with so many people around, and I actually started getting really annoyed with them. So I haven't brought myself around to giving that album a chance yet, sadly. But I did hear a cover of one of their songs by these two Swedish girls in a forest, on youtube, and it was stunning.

Coeur de Pirate ~ Coeur de Pirate :p

http://www.voir.ca/blogs/scene_locale/pochette%20Coeur%20de%20Pirate.jpg

Okay, this is in french, sounds alot like some british singer or Aussie singer liks Lisa Mitchell or Adele. She's a song writter, she plays the piano and few other instruments. She's 18 so still really young and talented...mostly piano ballad. it is just perfect and refreshing!!!

I give a 9.5 ;)

Dear Science - TV On The Radio :inlove: Amazing album. Red Dress and Lover's Day are my favourites, every track is fantastic though. Best album I've heard all year.

Three Girls Aloud albums. :o New album has triggered an obsession.

http://www.musicomh.com/music/audio/girls-aloud.jpg

Chemistry - Girls Aloud. Their first album worth listening to more than just the singles. :hearts: Models, Biology, Whole Lotta History, Long Hot Summer, Racey Lacey. All great tracks.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/9b/Girls_Aloud_-_Tangled_Up.jpg/200px-Girls_Aloud_-_Tangled_Up.jpg

Tangled Up - Girls Aloud. :worship: Their best. Love really almost every track. One of the best pop albums in the past few years. Call The Shots, Close To Love, Sexy, No No No, Girl Overboard, Can't Speak French (The best track in their career ), Black Jacks, Control of The Knife, What You Crying For.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/af/Girlsaloud_out_of_control.jpg/200px-Girlsaloud_out_of_control.jpg

Out of Control - Girls Aloud. Great album as well. :smoke: The Promise, Rolling Back The Rivers In Time, Love Is The Key, Untouchable, Miss You Bow Wow, Revolution in the Head.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/1/10/Lykke_Li_-_Youth_Novels.jpeg/200px-Lykke_Li_-_Youth_Novels.jpeg

Youth Novels - Lykke Li. :hearts: Very underappreciated Swedish pop singer. Dance, Dance, Dance, I'm Good, I'm Gone, Let It Fall, Little Bit, Breaking It Up. My favourite pop album of 2008. *love*

http://www.goldworld.it/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/the_bug-london_zoo_b.jpg

London Zoo - The Bug. Wonderful dub-step album. This was my first dub-step album, I hadn't liked it before this album. Angry and Skeng are my favourite tracks. :smoke:

As wished-for, my comment on Alex's list...
I love it. Well, I need to get that Girls Aloud stuff, but you know that. And "Little Bit" by Lykke Li is definitely in my top 10 songs of the year.
The Bug, I had heard great things about. I'm getting into DJ/Rupture's new album now, not bad at all. Burial is still king, however, of dub.
