View Full Version : What is it about Martina?

The amount of topics about her and her apparent demise is bordering on absurd. She's lost to Venus, Serena, Jenn, and Daniela this year, NO ONE ELSE, she obviously is not doing as bad as everyone is saying she is. People are saying she's not going to win a tournament, when she just won a tier 1 at Tokyo. When was the last time Henin, Clijsters, or Dokic have beaten Martina?? Not since the beginning of last year.

She is number 1, yes, number 1 for the year so far. And she certainly has not played that much, Venus has played more tournies than her. I'm just so angry that everyone is saying she is completely over, when you should say that about EVERY OTHER PLAYER on tour because they are ALL doing worse than her this year. She was ONE POINT away from a slam at the Australina, she's obviously not too far away from regaining her top form and getting another slam, so it is amazing to me the amount of crap that people are saying about her.

I'm glad that she's resting and getting prepared for Rome and Roland Garros, and I really, really hope she wins just to shut every one up!

Hingis has had an incredible year thus far. She should have taken the Aussie Open and her only other blemish is the 6-0 second set loss to Serena in Miami, who was ON FIRE. Martina is too good a player not to take a few more majors here and there.

She will do it.

Women's tennis has changed so much since '97-98 when Martina was dominating. She will never dominate again, there is too much depth. Only Venus really has a chance of domination (possibly Serena also). Hingis does seem to be lacking a bit in the confidence department the past few months. Once she gets back on track she will rise in the rankings. Maybe not to number 1, but anything is possible.

I hope Martina continues to play her game. It is so lovely to watch. I am a big JenCAP fan but there is nothing more enjoyable in tennis than watching Hingis play Venus, Serena, Jen or Lindsay. The contrast in styles is gorgeous. I love watching Hingis frustrate her opponents. It just seems she has been the frustrated player of late. I am sure she will solve this matter. Possibly at Roland Garros!

Hopefully not at Jen's expense, tho.:)
