What is your English level? You can give yourself a mark from 1 to 10 points, and our honest members can say if you are at the level you think you are or you may have given yourself too much or too little :)

I will start:
I think I'm 6/10.

I may not be a complete 10, but close to it. I attribute it to all the SAT practice I've been doing.

8/10.

I know my English is better than quite some who rated their English higher than this, though. It has all got to do with the frame of reference you use. My English is very good, but there is so much improvement possible. Anyone who rates themself as 10/10 is a bit :cuckoo:

Mine is 10/10.
I've been living in Canada for 10 years, I'd hope it's fluent.
Besides, I speak and write better than almost all students who were born there and do there schooling there, so said my professor. Of course on internet it's different :tape:

I speak fluently...I write well but I have some spelling and grammar mistakes. However, many Aussies, Americans and even English and New Zealanders who have more spelling and grammar mistakes than I do....so I guess I should be in the 8 to 9 category....I know someone on this board who would fit the 10 category very comfortably....;)

I'd give myself a 9/10. I've taken the SAT, TOEFL, GCE 'O' Level English Language and scored fairly good grades/scores. I love to write - it's a passion.

I study English at university and lived in the states for one year. My teachers say that I'm rather fluent in English which also shows in my grades, yet still I don't consider it to be perfect.

If English is your native language, you're still not perfect at speaking it.

In my honest and humble opinion, no one could ever be perfect at speaking a language. Moreover, some people here suffer of chronic overestimation :tape:

Since I'm told that the English language has about 40,000 words, and since I'm also told I certainly don't know more than somewhere between 10,000 and 15,000 words, I should give myself a 3/10. (Of course, knowing all 40,000 is impossible, and I'm also told that not many people - who's first language is English - know 20,000 or more words...)

I'd say I was an 9-10, depending on what I'm doing, as when I'm chatting on the internet/forums I start cutting down all my proper english to save time, what with typing etc. :D But certainly in real life ie: speech, or if I'm writing in an exam or whatever I'd say my english is close to perfect  I certainly have not been marked down because of poor spelling, punctuation or grammar in many, many years! :D

I know... some of my friends, who got A's at GCSE English still can't spell 'until' correctly. :tape: On the board, I usually judge someones spelling/grammar by their spelling of the words embarrassing and definitely. :p Loads of people get these two wrong, oh, and you're/your. ;)
