i used to have a band, i played the bass, the 1st name of our band was "apple seed" then we change it to "stool" then we ended up as "mayonnaise" but se stopped playing for a long time, and theres already a band here that is using the name "mayonnaise" :(

 Well since I can't play any 'band' instruments (I can play piano though, which I guess could translate into the keyboard  ), I'd probably be the vocalist in my band

Having said that, I'd probably be the more famous one  So to make the rest of my band feel more important, I'd bestow the honor of naming our band to them :p

I used to play bass too!

Hate to say it but "stool" is the most horrible band name I've heard........ and I've heard a lot!!! (for obvious reasons). Are you englsih speaking or is this a bad translation?

I do like Apple Seed tho... very simple and pure.

i like "apple seed" too, most of our friends likes it, but the problem with it is that it was taken form a Japanese Anime, we didnt want to get in trouble so we came up with "stool," we were thinking about the chair, but people thought we were referring to "you-know-what," thats why we change our name to "mayonnaise"

So next year (Senior year of high school), I plan on learning to play the guitar. But since you guys seem more experienced with stuff like this, what kind of guitar should I learn to play? The regular guitar, the bass guitar, or what :confused::o Which one do you think would take up 100 hours? Which one is fairly easy? Which one would be easier for me to learn to play a famous song (for example Oasis - "Wonderwall") on?

of course try learning the guitar, coz it would be easier to play the bass if you decided to be a bass player.

 But don't the people in bands usually use bass? :o I don't really know instruments well, I just like listening :lol:

I know people like John Mayer and Oasis probably use GUITARS. But other bands use like electric guitar or bass or bass guitar :o I can't tell the difference between those three :tape:

So which one would you recommend? And better yet, which one is the cheapest :tape:

most band use the guitar, ussually there are 2 guitar players, the lead guitar and the rhythm guitar, then there is the bass guitar, which is the soul of the band (ofcourse, im biased here  )

if youre new, then try buying the regular guitar or accoustic guitar, its cheaper than the electric guitar and it is recomended for newbies

gibson and fender makes good bass guitar, and they are the popular brand anyway, so try it. my first bass was a fender jaguar, but it was a cheap one or a fake one then my uncle bought me my pride and joy...

..an ibanez iceman bass guitar, aka the beast! just like this one, but this is a regular guitar, mine is bass, just imagine it with only 4 strings

Ah ok :) Do you think it's possible to learn to play on my own, or would I need an instructor? :o

its possible, but it is best to get some help, if you got a friend who knows how then ask for advice, but if you are really serious about it then get an instructor, having a band and playing in front of an audience is the best feeling in the world (next to uhhmm :tape:  )

Normally bass are use for rhythm and guitars for lead unless is funk where guitars are use for rhythm and where the bass rules. ;)
Well if you want to play Oasis than you should get an electric guitar. I got a Yamaha pacfica they are very good value for money. Do you have small hands like me because Pacfica are perfect for small hands they have thinner necks compare to most guitars. If you have larger hands than a Squier will be a better choose than a Yamaha for a begining guitar. Amp are important if you want to join a band or performing but you could always play it without an amp. ;)
Anyway, I would like to be in a band but I have doubts over my playing ablities. :o
I have go now I talk to you in more detail tonight. :wavey:

I would never want to be in a band, cos I'm selfish :P and wouldn't want to share everything, also think in a band if one person gets bigger than the others then it can lead to problems. Solo singers/performers must find it easier I reckon. :D

Peaches.

There is a band(singer) called Peaches now. Extremely crude lyrics but at the same time great party music. Some Peaches was playing in the club scene of Lost in Translation, if you don't know Peaches already.

the strip club scene?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure... I can picture the place... it was like a bar with modern furniture, I think before the party. The song was "Fuck the Pain Away" from her debut album "The Teaches of Peaches". (It's not on the LIT soundtrack.)

Here's her website:
http://www.peachesrocks.com/

and you can listen here. (Note for the pure: it's raunchy.)
http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/store/artist/album/0,,1047830,00.html

Here's a good little blurb about her:
"Throw all preconceived notions out the window as you step into the sleazy, dissonant, oddly compelling world of Peaches. The Canadian musician, born Merrill Nisker, has really created a sound all of her own, with the help of her trusty Roland MC505 Groovebox (she calls it MC5 for short). The machine provides the beats and effects, all of which are rather minimal and are often menacing and abrasive, sometimes totally cheesy. Peaches' voice does the rest of the work, ranging from raw PJ Harvey-like punk angst to hard, sexually explicit almost Missy Elliot-style raps. All this makes for an eclectic sound, which features elements of rock and roll, hip hop, and electronic music, but definitely fails to qualify as any of the above.

Nisker adopted the Peaches guise in 2000 after struggling for years with other sounds under a variety of other monikers and quickly discovered that electro-spiked vulgarity was just her ticket. She started out with the vinyl-only Lovertits EP and a self-titled EP on Canada's Teenage USA label. Then in 2001 came her instantly classic debut album, The Teaches of Peaches on Germany's Kitty-Yo, which got punky dykes all over the world damp between the thighs and found favor with other fans of the dirtier and rowdier corner of the burgeoning nu-electro movement represented by the likes of Add N to (X), Le Tigre, and Chicks on Speed. Peaches's almost unimaginably bawdy live performances of album cuts like "Fuck the Pain Away," "Lovertits," and "Diddle My Skittle" just added to the legend and within two years, she'd become one of the biggest names in underground music.

So big in fact that in 2002, a serious bidding war broke out over her services in 2002. XL Recordings emerged victorious and late that year celebrated by reissuing the album with a special bonus disc featuring half a dozen new and rare slabs of raunch-electro, plus videos and more. By now, all discerning music fans should know that Peaches is the ultimate destination for all that is weird, rough, kinky, and decked out in pink hot pants."

Bands called "The _________" are like, so 1999.
