Unfortunately the obsessive Maria haters (largely Serena and Lindsay fans) are back at it again for 2006, after a brief break.

This thread started by <bloc party> is the worst I've seen for some time. really nasty and unpleasant.
http://www.wtaworld.com/showthread.php?t=209859&page=1&pp=40

Please go to the thread, if it is still lve, and express disaproval. These people need to be squashed firmly before this sort of thing gets habitual again.

what do you mean? that's what the score line was.

i saw the thread and it made me laugh. i don't think it's that big of a deal, it's all in the past. and if they have to dig up stuff that old it's too bad for them. by fighting or whatever it's the attention they want.

I actually think it best to ignore or just laugh at that particular thread. The more we express disapproval and get annoyed by it, the more those "haters" would win. I mean Maria really lost that match anyway. The score was embarrassing. Any top player losing 6-0 6-0 to another top player she beat weeks before in a final would likely experience such "ridicule". The only bad thing is...Maria is Maria...she is much more of a target to some. Some posters here would rejoice 10x more if Maria loses compared to when other players lose. This is just the reality on these boards.

Despite the results of this match, both the haters and Maria fans know that the match does not in any way define Maria's talent and what she is capable of. Let those haters have their fun...I'm sure we'll have ours next time...;)

Yes, it is okay to gloat over a player's happiness and victory, but to show another player in discomfort, pain, or unpleasantness is beyond rude and spiteful. I would be perfectly fine with a thread on Davenport's joy, but the fact that these people made that thread and that they responded to other people's hurt feelings with sarcastic lauding proves to me that they clearly lack a sensitivity chip that all human beings should have. It's not about taking a joke or not. There are appropriate jokes and there are inappropriate jokes. It'd like calling someone a ****** and then telling them that its only a joke and that they shouldn't take it seriously. Anything that is as hurtful as that should not be taken lightly, and one can only hope that these people can learn to grow up.

The trouble with ignoring such threads is - as with any other form of bullying behaviour - the perpetrators don't go away, they just feel stronger and more emboldened to post worse things next time. It's happened before. Some of the threads posted in the past have been horrendous.

People who post this sort of stuff have to be stepped on quickly.

Im sooo over that haters they are really pathetic and cruel. One thing is that they put Masha down any chance they get and yet the majority of the Masha fans are sooo nice and dont say any mean things about other players.

well the thread has been shut down.

i reported it first thing when i saw it.

exceptionally disrespectful and childish.

thank God the forum closed it down but still the credibility of the forum has been hit with that single unruly post.

Good that they closed it down...I mean the bad intention was very evident...I've just been burned a couple of times whenever I tried to defend Maria...that I now try to choose carefully those that I counter aggressively. But good on those fans who reported the thread.

Cruel, tasteless, pathetic, kid: Excuse me? All he shows is pictures of Maria being sad, her entourage being speechless and her dad being angry because she is losing 60 60. No big deal, it actually happened in real life, get over it.

It's called Professional Sport: you win, you lose, you get hurt. Not showing it would be rather dumb.

what's new? *yawns*
the more hatred, the more reason we Maria fans have to gloat whenever she wins :p
Heck, maybe we should start some 'victory' threads, like 2004 Wimby final or whatever... OOH YEC 2004 will definitely be painful...
as for Lindsay fans.... well, they're too small in number to create substantial problems, let them be... but throw them tokyo 2004 if you want....

nah, we're just being immature... get over it, comrades... 2006 willbe a GREAT year!

It's not about the pics, it's about what some people say about them

What can we say, its what we expect from little immature people with nothing better to do than slag offf Masha, cos nothing interesting is going on with their fav players!

i say theres a thin line between love and hate, and i bet most of the so called Haters. Have a soft spot for Masha, but dont want to show it, cos they think they are King of the world!

what a bunch of Clowns

So what is the point in bringing up sad images from 9 months ago?
You don't see Maria fans posting threads of Lindsay's reaction in the 2004 Wimbledon SF, or Serena's losses in finals.
It's just another chance for certain posters to hate on Maria.
