Ex-'Top Model' Judge Dickinson Gets Series

NEW YORK - Cast off by "America's Next Top Model," Janice Dickinson will get her own reality modeling show on the Oxygen Network.

Dickinson, who claims she was the first supermodel, was ousted from the UPN show in May. During her four seasons on the show, she was the harshest critic of the model hunt's judging panel and often quarreled with fellow judges.

She'll winnow 500 aspiring models down to five as she starts her own Hollywood modeling agency on what is tentatively titled, "The Janice Dickinson Project." Oxygen has ordered 10 episodes, which are expected to begin airing in the spring.

"She's starting a new business with all its challenges, while trying to be a good mom and guide new models through a tough business," Debby Beece, president of programming at Oxygen, said in a statement Tuesday.

Dickinson, 52, is the author of "No Lifeguard on Duty: The Accidental Life of the World's First Supermodel" and "Everything About Me Is Fake ... and I'm Perfect."

She also was a cast member of VH1's "The Surreal Life."

I saw a show on BBC and apparently the first supermodel was around long before Janice Dickinson came on the scene. I wish she wouldnt keep on saying she is the first.

There may have been other "supermodels" before Janice Dickenson, but she came up with that name.

The story is that when Janice was in her prime, she was going from country to country, from plane to plane, from show to show, and one of her friends said, "Who do you think you are? Superman?". Janice said, "No. I'm a supermodel." And that is how it came about.

Ok fair enough, she coined the term 'supermodel'. Still doesn't make her the first one.

A series on Oxygen is akin to landing an adult diapers ad like June Allyson.

Technically, it does. How could there be a 'supermodel' before Janice when she made the term? There could be 'supermodel-like' models, or models that did the same things as 'supermodels', but they weren't really "supermodels".

That's confusing.

Don't forget that David Letterman has changed it now to, "leggy supermodel."

Helen, I know you've sent John Lithgow a sympathy card after seeing him in those soup commercials! Especially the butternut squash soup ad!

That is very, very sad. I can't believe it, he had a hit show recently, he couldn't have spent it all up. I mean, it's soup, it's not even something glamorous.

The total worse I've ever seen was Gary Sinese doing an ad for Golden Corral several months ago. I mean, not only was it Golden Corral, it looked like it was shot with a camcorder!

Well, take it from someone who is into staying eating-disorder thin like me, those soups in a box he's hocking are a lot better than the average Campbell's soup crap. They are tastier with a deeper flavor but still low in calories and no preservatives, and if you're on like a 1500 calorie a day diet, those can make for a tasty dinner along with a dressing-less salad. Don't get me wrong, it's still total shit, but it's a step up from their other soups. When I have a hot date with one of the fags I'm usually stuck with coming up in a week, Helen buys five of those soups in a box for dinners and she's rail-thin and ready to go in a week's time!

I saw Janice @ the White Party in Miami, and she is taller than I thought. She doesn't look bad, but it's obvious that she wasn't born with it.

I wish!, wish!, wish! I could've seen that season of Surreal Life.. but I don't have cable. Anybody know how I could see it?

About John Lithgow, I didn't see the soup commericals, but as an avid fan of Third Rock, for me he has a warm place in my heart forever. I would LOL watching that show.... and all the characters were so great. :hearts:

I love to hate her. Janice is a total ham and was brutally honest on ANTM. Twiggy is way too nice for me. ANTM doesn't have a Simon anymore so the judged isn't as fun. I'm sure the "Dickinson Project" is going to be horrible and that's why I'll watch it, tho Oxygen is boring as hell.

The season was a train wreck with Janice getting into altercations with Omarosa each episode. When you make Omarosa look sane then you've got to be crazy. Janice thought she would out-bitch Omarosa, but she was dealing with a pro. Omarosa got under Janice's skin so badly that she left the house.

They actually gave her a tv deal? They must be nuts, she's a total disaster! But then again, that's why I loved watching ANTM.

Yea Sheena is pretty cool. She has the cutest outfit out of all the TOS girls. I'm just in love with Lloyd Irving :hearts: what can I say.

I think that she is better on the america's next top model than twiggy or mr/ms/whatever Jay.

And, I saw an E true hollywood story with Janice, and I don't think she made the term super model. I think she just takes credit for it.

The difference between Janice and Omarosa is that Janice actually had a career before reality TV, Omarosa...not. :o

Janice is not shy about her...cosmetic enhancements ;) She admits to wanting to be the most gorgeous corps ever when she is dead! :tape:
