View Full Version : How good was Labyrinth!

So i remember having a conversation with a friend months ago about this movie and she went ahead and bought it for me on DVD for Christmas.

I remember watching it as a kid and loving it but looking at it again just made me realise what a great film this was for it's time. Remember, this was made in 1986 and the storyline, special effects and overall quality is pretty amazing i think (particularly when you consider other films released at the same time).

For those who may need a refresher, it's the one with David Bowie and a very young Jennifer Connelly. Sarah (Connelly) wishes goblins would take away her crying baby brother... and it happens.

You know, I was always pretty freaked out by that movie. Especially at the start when the toddler goes missing. But yeah, it is a good film, I was just a coward!!

My absolute favorite film as a kid. I own it and still watch it every now and then, and Jennifer Connelly is one of my favorite actresses now. Not just from that movie, but just overall, but lol yeah I remember when I first saw Labyrinth at my friend's house. After that I would go to family members houses to stay the night and every time they would go to rent a movie I would introduce Labyrinth to them and suggest they rent it. I must have seen that movie like 30 times as a kid

You're missing out Kunal. You should go hire it. I started watching it today - ahhh the memories - the Bog of Eternal Stench! Very impressive for its time!

 Love this film! Strange, a little creepy but genius! When I saw it the 1st time with some friends we ended up renaming David Bowie "MulletPouch" cos of his awful hair and costume in the film. Still absolute genius film! :D

Ahhh yes David Bowie's hair style in this film. It's like big European hair (the kind women blow dry directly in the centre to give it that symmetrical look above the forehead and requires a full can of hair spray) but with some long extensions out the back - very bizarre!

Meanwhile, he must have been super uncomfortable in his costumes.

And the turkey-head person! I loved that character! So weird. Also the scene I always remember was the one near the end with the maze (think it was a maze) and the walls talk and she has to answer the questions, loved that bit!

I loved this film, but it is very disturbing! Especially David Bowie's hair;)

K, so i finished watching it. I still can't believe this film is almost 20 years old - i just think they did such a great job.

And Jeff, i think i can beat your number of 30 - as a kid i absolutely loved it, then just forgot about it for like 15 years.
