*apologizing in advance for ignorance on this topic*
I know Jen and Barbara are friends but I didn't know they ever played doubles together. Are they a good team?
May 5th, 2002, 04:12 PM
And further, this is Jen's first doubles tournament of the year, isn't it? I'm glad she'll be getting some good practice up at the net before RG.
May 5th, 2002, 04:58 PM
ok, i went on the barbara schett website especially :p (and found nothing .. )
But, after finding an archieved capriati.co.uk page, no, they haven't played together before.
But, she just won the doubles title today...
May 5th, 2002, 05:09 PM
From www.barbara-schett.net --> I'm supposed to ask for permission, but as this is a board, and I acknowledged it, so Babsi - please don't kill me :)
May 5th, 2002, 05:48 PM
please dont beat me up.. but, is that third lady Iva Majoly?
May 5th, 2002, 05:51 PM
VBN: Thanks for the info and the great pics!!! :)
Babs won doubles today, huh? Sounds like she's on a roll - having done well in her singles play last week too.
Glad Jen is playing with a friend this week. Hopefully that will bring some lighthearteness to it (something she might need a little bit of after Fedgate).

Go Jennifer!!!!! and Go Babsi!!!!!
Bette Midler sings: "You gotta have FRIENDS......":D
May 5th, 2002, 07:45 PM
Thanks for all the research and pics VBN!:wavey:
Yes, it's the gorgeous Iva Majoli-party girl of the tour. She and jen have been close friends for a lon gtime, and I'm guessing maybe Babsi is part of that group of friends.
Jen needs net practice! As Mark was noticing, she hasn'r been finishing points at net this year like last.
GO JEN. Back to #1!:p
May 5th, 2002, 07:59 PM
i think if shell get to the semis shell be #1 again
May 5th, 2002, 08:25 PM
Iva, Jennifer and Babsi are very close friends; after Aussie Open i read an article in Croatian magazine where was the report from the tournament by Majoli's boyfriend; according to him the girls spent New Years Eve together and they were partying together in Australia :)
Hope they won't be partying too much next week and focuse more on their tennis, i mean Jennifer and Babsi, because Iva withdrew ...
Good luck to Jenny and Jenny/Babsi in doubles :)

ON life score board result was to Jennifer/Barbara, but on Results page it stated that they lost.
Sanex Site posted win for Jennifer/Babsi.
So, seems total confusion on what is true and what is not.
Can somebody call tourney and check on result please?
May 7th, 2002, 06:47 PM
they have corrected it on the site.

Insanity, Jen has to win the final to become # 1! ;) :wavey:
I see the weekly, 'Let's trash Jennifer' threads have emerged again. I decided to come here just to get away from all the crap the jealous ones spout.
In truth I was a bit amazed that Jennifer had managed to lose the last two sets so decisively. Nevertheless, she's had a good week and appears, in the main, to be playing some good stuff on the brick dust. I actually think she's playing better on the clay now than a year ago, and we all know what she did 12 months ago. Her draw in Rome is horrible, but whatever, she does, she's trying to peak for the biggie. It's been a good week for her results wise. The match against Tulyaganova was the glory, the Testud match was the guts. Today was just unfortunate that she couldn't maintain her advantage, but all credit to Justine.
And whilst those that wish to have a go at our girl find reason, remember she lost in a Tier 1 semi...her 5th semi of the season, already, stats a few other players would like.
Moreover, whilst I wonder if Hingis will make the French, she's fit, and off to Rome for more preparation and a decent home-cooked meal.
I just wish that one Saturday I could write a woo-hoo post, not a 'let's all be happy, she's still a champ' post.

Just when it was getting safe to go back in the water again, huh?Time to retreat - I'll be staying off the other boards again then. Oh well, I prefer it in here anyway (you guys are more creative). :D
And to sound like a broken record, on the plus side there were bright spots in Jen's game this week and before the rain it was nice to see her serving so well.
I blame you-know-who for causing the rain and will just look forward to next week and later the French when you really want to peak anyway.
May 11th, 2002, 06:06 PM
Crap. I leave the house during the rain delay and this is what I come back to.
On the up side, by all accounts Jen has been playing very well, and hopefully she's peaking for the big one.
LMAO cappy happy! I should have known the one who's name shall not be spoken would try something like this...
