After that nervous start she played superbly in the next two sets! :)

She's the first to defeat Venus in a final since Linz 2000!

Great come back victory for Kim, I thought she was a "goner" in the first set and a good come back by Venus after trailing 4-1 in the 3rd set..she sure made it interesting..she had Kimmie by the throat at 4-3 up 40-30 and Kim serving but Kim managed to hold her serve to make it 5-3 and that was the determining point of the match I think.:bounce: Congrats Kim, a well deserved win!!:D

Tine,

I cannot believe you cheated Venus from her hambug title ;)

Anyway, congrats to Kim for her effort, I thought she has no chance but face a straight set loss when Venus roll pass her in teh first set. Look forward to see some highlight tomorrow

Anyone in UK, they are showing in eurosport on Monday 1200 noon

No real surprise here.. On clay no one will be invincible.

At the same time this loss of Venus makes things more interesting. Now Capriati definitely has a shot at #1 in Berlin.

Interesting that last year after 5 match winning streak on clay Venus lost to a Belgian, and hadn't won another match on clay after that.

Come-on-kim
May 5th, 2002, 05:24 PM
I was in Brussel so I couldn't see the match live but I asked someone of my family to tell me by sms what were the scores and at 4-0 for Venus, I touched my necklace with a tennis racquet (it bring me luck when I'm playing too) and I said Come on Kim!!

And then game set and match Kim

CONGRATS!!!!!!! I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!!!

Now, perhaps it's better for her to take a little break after Berlin for her arm, to be in good form for Roland Garros!!!

Come on KIM :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

7 titles including 3 Tier II's, a better than .500 record against Dokic/Henin, a .500 record against V Williams/Mauresmo, wins against Hingis/Davenport, and sets won against S Williams, Seles, and Capriati. Roland Garros Final, Indian Wells Final, Australian Open Semifinal, Fed Cup Champion, and STILL the youngest player in the top 50.

Kim has now CATEGORICALLY proven that she is the class of the class of 82/83.
