No, I'm not asking about your sexual meetings with strangers via chat you dirty kinky minds

When was the first time you actually had access to internet? I remember it was in 1995 when Internet was virtually unknown in Spain and I came across with this computer in Barcelona Uni (miracoulosly available) under a big sign saying: 'Internet: connect with the world! maximum 15 minutes' and stayed there chatting with a Canadian guy absolutely amazed (btw I had to keep pushing the refresh botton non stop LOL)

Although I had to wait until 1999 to get internet internet at home when prices got reasonable...

The first thing I did was type in tennis on the search engine and the board came up. Thatís why I never believe those lying bastards who say ĎI never knew this place existed (you know the ones;)) though Iíve been online for FIVE years.

1996, I think. Maybe 1995 with AOL 3.something. My friend had it, and we used to fuck with all the guys on there.
We got WOW! at home in early 1996, but it closed down in 1997. Got AOL right after that.

Deffo got it when I joined secondary school so that would be '95...but I think we got dial up at home around the same time cos we got it with a deal with cable tv or something. Broadband (finally!) about 2 years ago and I can't remember life before the internet, what the hell did I do with all that spare time?! :)

In 1998, I was in 7th grade, we got it in school. I remember the movie Godzilla was about to come out about that time, and we sat there for 2 hours waiting for the new Godzilla's roar .wav file to finish downloading.

It must have been like 1995/6. I remember all the year 6's sending an Email with the headmaster to this school in Australia. I don't think they replied.

I remember the head telling us the letter was up there now (pointing out of the window) and I was like... coooool.:tape:

93 or 94 over a dialup. FTP, gopher and Telnet. I remember downloading DOS games of 200 or 300K and praying that the connection did not give up while downloading. Soon www via lynk (Text browser) and I think in 94 started using Mosaic (The first or one of the earlier browsers). Suddenly i am feeling so old. . .

About 1996 I think...I was doing I.T GCSE and we had a whole lesson on The Internet. Only one computer in the whole lab was online...our eville teacher made us look up the BT across the world sailing boat race (random) and strictly nothing else. How frustrating!
Tennis was one of the first things I started surfing the net on, because I wanted to see how Arantxa was doing!

Spring '97. I found that Infoseek was set as my homepage. First thing I did was search for "nanotechnology".

It was a year or two before I set up my e-mail account properly and then discovered I'd been e-mailed by friends for ages and not known. :tape:

FIrst time I actually accessed it was 1996 I think. Either '95 or '96. One of my neighbours, who sometimes babysat me had it and whenever I'd go there to have lunch, I'd finish quickly and play on the net for a while. I kept going on a Tintin website
I got it at home in December 1998 and I remember back then calling the provider saying : Is there any way to change our e-mail address (It had my dad's name) and this guy goes : No, but if you want there's this pretty good website called Hotmail. That was the revelation of all revelations. I was so frickin happy  I could choose my e-mail address.

and the first person I chatted with was a 13yo Aussie GIRL. That was back when I was TRYING ;)
