I was playing who's the bestest game with an Afro Punk I know. I said the Beatles-by a long shot! John Lennon was a genius. What about:

Bob Marley* or Jimi Hendrix
Elton John or Sting*
Usher or Marvin Gaye*
Madonna or Cyndi Lauper*
The Supremes or Destiny's Child*:tape:

I don't really who's better but my husband loves The Rolling Stones and he actually got me into them now. The Beatles are bit too light for me and I was never into light rock music.

The Stones were blue eyed soul before there was such a thing: "Brown Sugar' is classic. And I love "Mother's Little Helper" and "Sympathy for the Devil."

That said, the Beatles, mainly John Lennon sang of peace and hope and unity. Paul (lightweight) Ringo (irrelevant) and George (Had his moment with "My Sweet Lord") would probably have been one-hit wonders without the powerful influence of John Lennon. ;)

The Rolling Stones are a second rate pub rock band. And Paul was the genius. Thats why John had him killed.

Neither,
Neither,
Marvin Gaye,
Madonna,
The Supremes, obviously. :)

What? The Stones got top ten hits from the mid sixties to the mid eighties. Satisfaction is among the rock classics. You still hear them reguarly on the radio, why's that? The Stones are behind the Beatles one of the most successful bands ever in history.

George Harrison's career post-Beatles speaks for itself.

The Beatles by far...
Bob Marley or Jimi Hendrix - two great artists in their own right
Elton John - only because I don't like Sting all that much.
Marvin Gaye - how can you compare Usher to Marvin Gaye...
Madonna - got to respect Madge
The Supremes - again how can you compare Destiny's Child to The Supremes

I love creative songwriting, and the Beatles are unparalleled in this regard. :worship:

The Stones definitely do "rock" more. But overall I love the Beatles more. :)

Beatles - by a million miles! Seriously I can't even compare the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, Beatles are just too good. (However, I do still like The Rolling Stones ;) )

Jimi Hendrix - again by quite some way for me.

Elton John - Just cos Sting annoys me, except for one genius song with The Police, Don't Stand So Close To Me

Marvin Gaye - Again Usher annoys me, he's an arrogant twat who only dances and strips off. Marvin could sing, and I love Heard It Through The Grapevine.

Madonna - just love all her music from when she began up to nowadays. Love her :)

I'd like to say the Supremes cos I'm sure they are better than DC, but I just don't really listen to them much so don't know them v well, thus DC will have to win over them I'm afraid...
