As you may know, earlier this year I wrote a piece of HC which I posted and can be read at: http://www.wtaworld.com/showthread.php?t=182239.

You may not know, I emailed this to the HC organisers to see what they thought of it. I got a personal email of congratulations from Paul McNamee, among others.

That was about 3 months ago, and I thought nothing of it since. Until I got this email today.

Hi Lincoln,
I wanted to let you know that the staff at Hyundai Hopman Cup have decided
that as we enjoyed your story "There's Something About Hopman" so much, that it should appear in this year's Souvenir Programme. Due to space
requirements, we did however, have to shorten the piece somewhat. Rest
assured it was done very professionally by our journalist who produces the
Programme.

So if you are going, read it!

Thanks Ivanovic... if it is the same guy they had last year, his name is Barry Wood.

But now they have two people working for HC, him... and me :P

I might take some pictures while I'm there... see what I can do.

Congrats. Must be a great feeling. :)

Just a question: you didn't mind them using it without your permission, or even shortening it without your permission?

To be honest; they didn't actually ask me for permission. Maybe there was a mistake somewhere along the line, and they thought they had, but I just got an email telling me it was in. Had they asked, I would have said yes, but there you go...

Oh cool, that's really nice to hear... thankyou :)

If that is the only reason you were going to buy it, I will tell you now I will post a scan of the page after Hopman Cup for all to see... up to you.

Congratulations. Yes most people would say yes.

And you did give permission when you emailed it them. They have policy that anything submitted to them becomes their property (like most magazines) that they can publish or alter without any payment to you.

Fantastic

I'm sure that my friend will give me a free copy of the souvenir programme. He gives me one every year since he's in charge of distribution. :)
