Its a distinct possibility and if she is, it has been announced that veryone who attends her first match at the Proximus Diamond Games on 15 Feb will be given a free bottle of champagne to mark the event! :D

(at least, I assume that will apply to everyone over the legal drinking age, otherwise Kimmy might be in trouble with the law  )

Mathematically, it's very possible. Lindsay has major points to defend and Kim does not. Also they are so close in the rankings. I think Kim would have to take an early exit and Lindsay would have to at least reach final. Go LINDS! ;)

someone posted that it's nearly impossible for lindsay to hold it...even as a champion

Lindsay loses the bonus point from last year, under the new system. That hurts her a lot. I don't know the exact details but it's almost assured that she won't be ranked number one after the Australian Open. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

Kim could be #1 BEFORE AO if she wins Sydney.

Kim is number one.
She had the best year.
Now in the new year. We will have to wait for one year.
However it you want a temperary number one.
It will be the Australian Open winner.
Simple stupid

Given the fact she has nothing to defend for the first few months, good aussie results should do the trick. :)

kim being number one early next year is totally inevitable if she plays at least a tourney...

Of course she will! That's mathematically 90% likely.

Are they getting rid of bonus points?
Why?

Ahe has a fair chance to be in the final IMO, so it's very very possible. Go Kimmie:)

Hmmm, I hope she will get the top position, but I think AO is a bit too early. I think she will be No.1 after Indian Wells and Miami in March.

LOL henner. That's damn near impossible. If she's not number one by Indian Wells, and she won't be after Miami, as she has a gazillion points to defend since she won both last year.
