Davenport and Venus aren't so good as Clijsters in the doubles.

Really? Wouldn't know, considering they both have more slams than her, and Lindsay has a ton more titles.

Overall i will say that Venus and Davenport had better carrer etc. but NOW i think Kim is better player in the doubles. If she has good doubles partner she should easily doubles titles.

What a pity that Safina is not in TOP 10 :haha: Seriously Fed Cup doubles was her volley concert. She was palying so damn good there.

I don't know for whom I can vote. There are three or more player from the Top who are very well in doubles.

I don't must to vote in this pool. Why? Cause Sharapova is going to win it without me :haha:

Maria couldn't play doubles to save her life, and I am a true fan just being truthful

How can you say that when she doesn't even play doubles anymore.

Lindsay has the second best win-loss at 77% 35 titles 1 slam

It's an obvious fact, that Davenport is the best in doubles and with no doubt<in top10> coz what's important - who has the most titles - that only counts! :)
So Lindsay is the number 1...then who's next?:
- Venus is also a par time GS champion and she's the number 2, for sure
- Clijsters didn't play a single match in dbs this year...but overall she's #3
- Nadia Petrova is a really good dbs specialist...
- Mauresmo, Pierce play dbs occasionally, but they're quite effective
- Dementieva tries hard...Schnyder's not so succesful,
- Sharapova doesn't play dbs at all, so does JHH...
wateva...all of that's really widely known ;)

2005: Dementieva. I can't really understand why someone would pick Maria out of this. Schnyder is quite consistent too, and Mauresmo does well when she plays.

Well, it depends on how you measure it.

Venus has six GS doubles titles, but only ten overall.
Davenport has 35 total doubles titles, but only three at the GS level.
Clijsters has 11 total doubles titles, but only two at the GS level.

All won all their GS doubles titles with one partner. Clijsters and Venus both had players who at one point in their careers were top ten players as partners. Davenport player WAY longer with her partner. None of them play doubles regularly anymore. Venus and Clijsters both won their last GS doubles in 2003.

Who's the best doubles player? Hard to say with this evidence, but probably Venus. She much more mobil the Davenport, and much longer than Clijsters. And her volleys are much improved. But it's not like Hingis, where she won GS titles with a bunch of different partners.

Career-wise Lindsay and Venus are the best, but who is actually the best doubles PLAYER, it would probably go to Lindsay then Clijsters. Has Venus even played doubles with anybody else besides her sister? (and no I'm not talking about mixed doubles where she's FORCED to pick somebody other than Serena :p)

It's HARDLY a tough contest to pick the top 3. Davenport, Venus, and Clijsters of the Top 10. Dementieva? She can't win a slam in singles or doubles, and if she was up against any of the aforementioned players with their regular partners, she'd lose. I'd say Venus first, because she has more doubles slams than Lindsay, and mixed slams.

She made the US Open final this year with Flavia Pennetta, plus they won two tournaments leading up to the event. Not to mention her success with Lina Krasnoroutskaya & Janette Husarova a few years back. I'd say a Grand Slam wouldn't be too far off for her.

Petrova. No doubt. The results are all there :)

Patty Schnyder:
2005 RG SF
2005 USO QF
Amelia Island Final

Didn't play very much but she can be very effective at times :)

Based on big wins, I would say Venus, she & Serena all 4 majors & she also has two mixed slams. but she doesn't play as much doubles as several of the others...

Wasn't Lindsay #1 in doubles @ one time? If so, that's a good argument as well.

Kim and kuznetsova.
Kuznetsova is the only player from this list that is going to keep playing doubles and winning slams.
Petrova is a big question mark. she's really good - but she doesn't do well in the slams, and 2005 wasn't that great for her.
I'd like this russian pair to team up - they would probably win AO and USO, and battle out the specialists on Wimbledon and RG.

Davenport won each of her grand slams with different partners:

The French Open with Mary Joe Fernandez, the US Open with Jana Novotna, and Wimbledon with Corina Morariu.

Nadia Petrova gets my vote.

hingis-seles
Dec 22nd, 2005, 02:59 PM
I give the nod to Venus, considering she and Serena beat Davenport/Morariu in the 2001 AO final, she has more doubles Slams and more mixed doubles Slams.
