View Full Version : Will Sesil get banned similar to Puerta?

It's a bit sad. I sometimes wonder if the players make sure they know exactly what they're eating to prevent a false-positive test. I know I would. A lot of these players are under so much pressure to do well.
This does effect player's views of their performance at Roland Garros. I'm guessing primarily Venus and anyone who happened to play Puerta.
Would Sesil come back if she was banned for 2 years?
Should more up-and-comers be watched more carefully to make sure they aren't taking performance enhancing drugs?
What do you think? Discuss.

I think its sad.Sesil needs mature management to nurture her,and make the best of her potential. It appears they want to take a short cut to success. Her father appears to be a pushy money-grubber according to Bolletieri.I'm not surprised poor sesil is in such a mess. This should be a lesson to all pushy tennis parents trying to push a young talent too hard too soon.Theres no short cut to success.
I don't even know if sesil faced a trial in the first place. The whole thing has become a screwed up,hazy mess. The media statements by sesil have been non-specific too.
If this thing is true,I don't think she'll be banned for two years.Probably only one year,on account of her youth and ignorance.Whatever happens,it'll be a tough road back if proven guilty. But,players have done it before.

From reading the announcement for Puerta (http://www.itftennis.com/abouttheit...le.asp?id=16082) (http://www.itftennis.com/abouttheitf/news/newsarticle.asp?id=16082) it seems that there is some leeway for an accepted Accidental Ingestion Defense. If Sesil did test positive and has to defend this result in front of a tribunal, could she get less than the 2 years with a convinging plea of No Significant Fault or Negligence?

I think she is very young and is not responsible for the discisions being made for her. Puerta got caught for very second time. I think on human basis she should not get this harsh treatment even if the rules say so.

If she is found to have used a banned substance, is banned and her results nullified a la Puerta, it's too badd Venus cannot be credited with a win.

Puerta got a harsh ban because it was his 2nd offence. It would be Sesil's first offence so she would not be banned as long.

Diego Maradona is our idol argentine, his career is not over yet, all depend on the mind of the player. I hope Sesil was innocent and learn this experence like a lesson of the life...

Sesil

I Expect 12 months, not more - because she have only 15 at RG 2005.
