Nadia is taking a rather unusual approach to 2006 :cuckoo:
Dumps her coach who took her to her first title
Taking another Russian player under her wing as travel companion
Moving back to Moscow from Amsterdam
Going to New Zealand really early
Playing in a Tier IV tournament :o
Meeting Peter Jackson
New sexed up picture on WTA tour
Not sure what it will all turn into

That picture has been her profile pic for a good 6 months.
I don't see anything wrong with what Petrova's doing.
She said that she has a boyfriend but she speaks better English than he does now.
She doesn't want to lose her Russian roots. The best way to keep them is to have a younger Russian player who hasn't learned the ways of the tour tag along.
This way the Russian players learns something and so does Nadia.
Her early preparation isn't an issue. You have to prepare early for the Australian Open.
There's really no offseason if you really want to have a go at it.

This is over a month ago -

Petrova fired Schapp
due to lack of mental support
Petrova has given coach Glenn Schapp tremendous credit, but after she won her first tournament in Linz, she dumped the Dutchman, because they were arguing too much.

"He was great about giving me technical support, but I couldn't get enough mental support from him," Petrova told TP
"We were arguing too much and had quiet a few misunderstandings. I was under too much stress with him and couldn't relax. During the important moments he wasn't with me anymore and I found it impossible to explain what I needed because were always fighting. It's better this way. I'm not happy that I have to find a new coach, but that's the way it is."

After 12 years out of homeland (she was most recently living in Amsterdam), Petrova is moving to back to Moscow, where she hopes to improve her fading Russian.

"I'm embarrassed, especially with my boyfriend because I speak better English than I do Russian now," she said. "My sentence construction needs improvement and I miss living there."

Petrova's boyfriend owns two businesses in Russia and has been playing tennis for a year and can actually sustain a rally with her. "His mind is like a computer and he picks up everything very fast. He plays every day."

I'm wondering is she's a lesbian, too. I mean, I don't travel with a guy unless there's hanky-panky going on.

If she wins anything big this year - it was worthwhile for me.

It is time to give this thread a bump

It seems with all the changes Nadia has made (in post 1), it has really worked for her so far in 2006 as she has gone on to win 4 titles at the Tier I and Tier II level :drive:

And Dementrova's prediction from December 19 2005 that Nadia will win Roland Garros 2006 is looking very likely :bolt:

But lets note here that Nadia has already fired another coach in 2006 - the guy she was with at the AO because he was not tough enough on her

And hired a polish guy. She has also started an official website.

Now the 1 change she probably has to make is to tone down her schedule :help: so she is not always tired and fatigued

Nadia is having an unusual career. When she turned 23, she had yet to win a title.
She comes into the FO, still at 23, with 3 straight titles, the last 2 Tier I's

RG is going to be interesting for sure.
JHH is no longer invincible even when 100% fit and on form.
Nadia seems to be playing her best tennis ever.
Sveta as well.
Lena is always unpredictable.
Kim has already been to 2 RG finals
Venus is back and who knows how she will do.
Well, Momo is momo
Patty is a dark horse. So is Sharapova.
