Anyone else seen Jen's new commercial for Florida vacations? She "plays" a waitress - comes out in her blue Fila dress with a nametag on it that says "JEN". I was sitting there, kinda zoning, when I saw someone I thought looked a lot like her and I said to myself, "Man, I'm spending waaaaaaay too much time on that damn message board - now I'm starting to imagine that Jen's doing commercials." But it WAS her! Very cool!! She looks great! :D

That's awesome! I can't wait to see it! What channel was it on because some commercials only come on certain T.V. channels..?
May 5th, 2002, 01:06 AM
oooooooh! More details, por favor! :)

TeNnIsFaN: I'm 95% sure it was on The Learning Channel (TLC). I'll let you know for sure if/when I see it again.
kazzmazz: I actually only saw parts of it....twice. Like I said, I wasn't really watching - doing a crossword puzzle - so I haven't seen it all the way through but it's to promote Florida tourism ("Florida USA" I think that's what they called it) and shows clips of things to do here including Disney. At the end there's some people eating outside and and she walks up to their table like she's their waitress and says something like, "Can I get you anything else?" She's all smiles and looks happy - - which is nice to see for a change.

That's too funny! I'm surprised to hear Jen has done a commercial. But it sounds fun, I hope I get to see it. I'm not sure they'll air it up north though.

Thanks cappy happy :) :wavey:
I doubt they'll show the commercial in Canada
Besides, here in Quebec, half the population already vacations in Florida anyways.
May 5th, 2002, 11:00 AM
wow! cool - i hope they show it over here :)
I'm kinda suprised she agreed to doing it
May 5th, 2002, 12:39 PM

Ok - I saw another commercial of theirs in the series (not Jen's) on NBC. I paid closer attention this time. It's for "FLA USA/Florida Vacations" and I went to their website and found this:
VISIT FLORIDA has also teamed up with Florida's Public Broadcasting Service, Inc., to promote and distribute the guide with an eight-week period of advertising on PBS and NPR statewide outlets, plus extensive live on-air promotion on key PBS stations during pledge drive periods.
So, if you have the constitution to sit through PBS programming for 8 weeks, it might be there too. Of course that will mean having to put up with several 40 hour mini-series' on some dusty old English novel.
(No offense, but when are you Brits gonna get bored with Jane Austen? I mean, she's been dead for a REAAALLLLY long time. ;) :p )
May 5th, 2002, 01:50 PM
PS Isn't it odd that they are showing it in Florida? We're like, ummm, already here.....
May 5th, 2002, 02:11 PM
Just when I had kicked my "Antiques Roadshow" habit!!
May 5th, 2002, 08:00 PM
Plez let it be shown in Britain! Eurosport sometimes have ads promoting holidays places, but not sure if they do places outside of Europe....
May 5th, 2002, 08:05 PM
Kazzmazz: Were you being sarcastic? I ask because I know people who are obsessed with that show. I don't watch it myself for fear of becoming one of them and I have a strict rule: I only permit myself to be addicted to one show-my-grandmother-also-watches at a time. Right now that's "Trading Spaces". Do you guys get that? I LOVE it when they hate the new room - cracks me up!:p
May 5th, 2002, 08:08 PM
Don't knock Austen, or Dickens, or Shakespeare etc....
I don't think they will show it in Europe, but who knows ... :)
May 5th, 2002, 08:14 PM
Lets, see, yup, dead, dead, and yeah, dead - "as doornails" as Dickens would say. Ya'll need to come up with some new material. C'mon we give the world Brittney and n'Sync and the Canadians even kicked in with Celion Deon - what have you done of US lately??? :p :p :p
May 5th, 2002, 08:16 PM
lets see ... Radiohead, Oasis, Jude Law, Sam Mendes, Kate Winslet & Beckinsale, THE SPICE GIRLS!!!, Orlando Bloom ... :p
May 5th, 2002, 08:21 PM
Good lord! I forgot about the Spice Girls! I stand corrected! :p
Of course, I don't want to trump you too bad. I could say, if I were mean, we gave you the person this den is named after - but I'm nice. I would NEEEEEEVER do THAT!!! ;)
May 5th, 2002, 08:26 PM
LOL!! It's embarrassingly true. British players really are crap, we have to rely on Americans :o
So what else can you tell us about this A.D.V.E.R.T?? are there any pics?
May 5th, 2002, 08:37 PM
Sorry - I'm back - just reading your newspaper article on the other thread. Grrrrrr.
I looked but can't find any. Their website is "www.flausa.com" but its mums on JC. I'll try to pay better attention to the tv next time but she's wearing I think - strangely enough - her blue FILA dress (I guess it was in her contract???) and has her hair pulled back. I about fell off the couch when I saw it. Can't remember the last time I ever saw her in a tv ad.....?

I was kidding about Antiques Roadshow, but OMG!!! Trading Spaces??? I LOVE that show!! I'm starting to think we may be cosmic twins ;)
If I had one wish, after world peace, it would be for Genevieve Gorder to redecorate my entire house! GENEVIEVE RULES!!!!! HILDE DROOLS!!!!!
May 6th, 2002, 12:28 PM
OMG! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Genevieve!!! She's my favorite. Let's test the comic twin theory. Right after Gen (uh oh - just realized she has a name like you-know-who!), I really like Vern and most of the time I like Frank and Lori (who's personality I like but whose work is sometime "eh"). But can you imagine the horror if they picked your house and you got Doug?!?!?! I'd slam the door and burn it down before I let him in! Did you see the at-home theater?? IT WAS TERRIBLE!!!!!
BTW: Did you see Paige's marriage on "A Marriage Story"? Her husband.....gawd....what was she thinking!!?!?
May 6th, 2002, 11:17 PM
Doug is a couple fries short of a Happy Meal for sure!! I haven't seen the infamous home-theater episode, but I don't know if anything could top Hilde's circus-tent living room and when she covered that poor couple's walls with hay
And Paige? What can I say? If I were her I would have gone for Ty  :hearts:
May 7th, 2002, 02:31 AM
The in-home movie theater - - he decorated everything in heavy brown drapes, including the windows, built a ramp, covered the chairs in brown and had them all facing the screen which was the couple's TINY like 17" tv so if you had guests over, they'd be staring at the backs of heads. But the worst part was, the couple never said anything about even liking movies and this was their living room!!
Circus tent living room sounds right up there too - will have to keep my eyes open for that gem.
I'm waiting for a Ty fan club to form. It's only a matter of time! :D
May 10th, 2002, 12:53 AM
jen doing a commercial? I'd love to watch it
May 10th, 2002, 01:05 PM
I wanna see it!!!!
May 10th, 2002, 01:07 PM
I guess there is no chance to see it here in Germany! :fiery: :fiery: :fiery:
