Mauresmo's best chance are the Aus open and wimbledon. she'll win one (or more) before she retires. i honestly think gronefeld will win a lot of slams IMO. i like her a lot more than vaidisova and think she'll have the better career.

Ivanovic, for sure.

Zauber
Dec 17th, 2005, 05:46 AM
yes the three with the best chances.
Dementieva oh the serve.
Mauresmo actually I dont think her nerves are that bad she is just barely getting beat.
Vaidisova time is on her side plus she should still get better.

I really really hope Elena D. gets at least one...and i hope she wins one sooner rather than later....

Amelie probably has the best chances of winning a slam first. I would put Elena next just because I wanna see her win and because I believe in her abilities (except the serve of course)...:)...The young ones maybe in a few more years...

MoMo she's way too talented not to. Of course the FO would be a dream come true. Then she could die happy. I would also love to see Elena get a GS win. She's been soooo close and for someone with a serve like that to get to two GS finals shows u how good the rest of her game is.

Amelie Mauresmo.

Honesty, the 3 players who would be reasonable picks would be Mauresmo, Dementieva, Vaidisova, and (possibly) Petrova. There is no way that one of the others is going to win a slam before there 4. I even think Petrova is not a contender (Vaidisova only because she is still very young and has alot to grow and prove). For the Australian Open, Mauresmo definately has the best chance (out of these people) of winning, because of her fresh win at the Tour Championships.

Amelie definately, i feel she now has the mentality to do it, shes had the game for it for ages but since the YEC shes final shown how shes got the mental strenght, i really hope she'll do it this year.

once Momos done it Elena shouldnt be too far behind i just dont see it happening this year, but if she had a half decent serve imagine how amazing she would be

Of those in the poll, Nicole Vaidišová - but not before 2007.

First Vera Zvonarëva (http://www.geocities.com/andrewbroad/tennis/zvona/) will win the French Open.

Dec 29th, 2005, 06:36 AM
The only ones on that list with a real chance the next few years is Dementieva, Mauresmo, and Petrova. I don't think Petrova is winning one any time soon, she hasn't shown enough game to consistently challenge the top players in my opinion. I'd tag Dementieva to win a slam before Mauresmo. Dementieva's made one more slam final than Mauresmo, and to me Mauresmo still hasn't proven she's ready to take that step, I think a YEC is much much different than a slam.

this poll just goes to show how hard it is to win slams. it is the sort of poll caro tards need to look at as all these players had time on their side and it didn't happen bar momo and ana. yes some were obviously better than others but all had potential to do well.

Well I'm not someone who goes around saying Wozniacki is going to win multiple Slams , but come on , Mauresmo & Dementieva aside , Wozniacki is miles ahead in terms of her achievemnts than anyone in this poll was in 2005. How many of those on the poll had even been in a Slam semi by the time the poll was made?

petrova had already made a slam semi, nicole would do it in 2006 (at a much younger age than caro). both never ended up getting near a slam.
