Yulia Beygelzimer of the Ukraine makes the Semi's of both events at the £50K Bergamo event.

After a real slump Yulia seems on the up and up - recent tournament win has lifted her ranking again. Maybe finally she will advance on the Top 100? I hope so! :) :)

:yeah: I thought she'd do better after her match against Capriati in RG!

Beygelzimer is by far the most talented Ukrainian player, it's perplexing why she went into a 14-month slump after the Capriati match last year.

That's tennis for you - you play the match of your life against a top 10 player and the next day you can't get a ball over the net.

I remember her giving someone--I think it was Serena--a really hard time at some tournament. Then she kind of faded away. But I was impressed with her that day.

I watched her at Gold Coast and her forehand is so powerful

I saw her beat Aiko Nakamura in the First Round of Wimbledon Qualies in 2004. She's pretty cool.

I loved her playing against Jennifer Capriati in the French Open :hearts: She was great, and she had the look of a supermodel ;)

She was great in playing at the RG and I wanted her to take out Maria at Wimbledon, but didn't. I think she's great and has potential to win a title here and there. I would love to see her become a top 50 player or higher. This is really my first non-100 favorite player. Venus, Serena, and Yulia! LOL Too funny.

Oi, don't forget about Tatiana Perebiynis. That right there is a whole lot of potential wrapped up into one individual. Unfortunately she has been sick lately and couldn't capitalize on a good 04 :(

yeah  Perebiynis, Beygelzimer and Fedak have more talent than the Bondarenko's in my opinion. Kutuzova is also a very good Ukrainian player...there are many of them!

I remember the Beygelzimer vs. Capriati match at RG'04 too - I remember being very impressed with Yulia. (And I remember also really liking her hairstyle ;) )

I'm pleased to hear she's doing well - keep it up Yulia!! And all the best for 2006 too. :)

Perebiynis is a sweetie but i think her talent is marginal. A ranking around #75 seems to be about the ceiling for her.

Yulia is a great baseliner in an era of greater baseliners. And she has all these superstitions between points that make you go crazy. She has the tools but must be perfect to win at the top 100 level. WTA now is so deep that really fine players like Yulia must struggle to get into draws!

:fiery: Blasphemous!!! Tati will make the top, she has so much potential. When she is on, she really is on. Playing like a top 20 player sometimes. Unfortunately it usually only lasts like 2 games and then she starts playing like a 150 player  :p Silly girl.

I saw Beygelzeimer play Lucic at US Open Qualifying a few years ago and it was the best qualifying womens match I have ever seen. It was one of the rare days when Mirjana was playing like a top 10 player and it was absolutely fucking scary how well she was hitting. Yulia hung in there though, blasted plenty of her own winners and ended up losing 2-6 4-6. I thought it was only a matter of time before Yulia cracked the top 100, but I guess her fitness has prevented her doing that.

Glad to see she's fulfilling her potential finally. If she can carry over her form the fall onto next year she'll be in the top 100 without question.

that's wrong, below the top 30-40 players the WTA is still not that deep, Yulia has the game to go way inside the Top 100.
