Sesil Karatantcheva reached the QF of Roland Garros last June at age 15y 9m.

These are the nine other women in the Open Era to reach a slam QF before their 16th birthday.

Tracy Austin (14y 8m) - 1977 USO
Tracy Austin (15y 8m) - 1978 USO
Andrea Jaeger (15y 0m) - 1980 WM
Andrea Jaeger (15y 2m) - 1980 USO
Kathy Rinaldi (14y 2m) - 1981 RG
Gabriela Sabatini (15y 0m) - 1985 RG
Mary Joe Fernandez (14y 9m) - 1986 RG
Arantxa Sánchez Vicario (15y 5m) - 1987 RG
Monica Seles (15y 6m) - 1989 RG
Jennifer Capriati (14y 2m) - 1990 RG
Jennifer Capriati (15y 3m) - 1991 WM
Jennifer Capriati (15y 5m) - 1991 USO
Jennifer Capriati (15y 9m) - 1992 AO
Martina Hingis (15y 3m) - 1996 AO
Martina Hingis (15y 11m) - 1996 USO

Do you think Sesil will be able to get to the top or she'd get something like #7 in the world and no really remembered by the general public in the future?

I think Sesil has great potential but their is alot of competition in the rankings - She will need to improve her serve if she wants to contend -

Off topic - It is amazing what Jennifer did at such a young age....

I think her and Ivonovic are going to have a great rivalry ^.^

But to answer your question, I think she will win a few GS, probably on clay

Sesil won't even get close to the top fifteen. I'm sorry, but I really don't see what you people see in her

It all stems from her win over Venus.
She's been overhyped since.

The fact simply was that match was decided
by how terribly Venus was playing than
what Sesil did besides getting the ball
back and Venus producing the error.

Sesil a good player in her own right but
the weight of expectation was magnified
after that win by 100.

We've seen Zvonareva & Sprem have big
touted wins over Venus to faulter since.

People see in her the fact that she is bloody young!!!
But I agree I don't think she'll do an Austin, she'll rather do a rinaldi whatever and not many will remember about who was Sesil Karatontieva.

Harsh.

Although I am totally shocked and disgusted by Puerta... that is, in my opinion totally DISGUSTING and I don't think the 8 year ban is harsh AT ALL. Imagine how those players he beat must feel! I'm very sad for Argentinian tennis and I just hope the women don't go down the same line, cuz we have some good juniors and players like Dulko who can achieve a whole lot more. These guys make a really bad name for South American sport, cuz whatever the popular belief is, the PRESENT footballers are clean as can be.

About Sesil, I think she will be a good player and make top 15 but I don't see her being a "great" as she does not have the power nor the versatility.

Based on her present record on clay she looks destined to win the French Open. I only know of few(1,2,3) players who have the talent to play in clay and Venus is not one of them. Venus did not win that day because she was hitting flat and was hoping all of them were winners which she was not supposed to do until the end of June. Anyway I won't be the one who'd be shaking his head when someday SK wins in Paris. If she does not then at least I know that she is talented enough to win it. I guess only intelligent tennis fans know talent when they see it.

yes sesil can. She needs to improve her serve, she needs to be mentally tougher and improve her forehand a lil bit more.

Probably Top-10 one day. But I don't think she will be greater than any of the Maleevas. Somehow I think Pironkova is better, dunno why...
