"I donít know yet for sure. I mean I've talked to Martina (Navratilova) during Team Tennis, so probably thereís possibilities that I might play here and there some doubles," said Hingis, who is one of only five players (Navratilova, Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, Lindsay Davenport and Clijsters) to hold the top spot in singles and doubles simultaneously. "But I donít have a partner right now at the moment. So priorities will be always on singles rather than doubles. I wonít say no though if I can play sometime again."

I think they would be a good team - they're both excellent at doubles ... However, Martina should focus on the singles

She is a good agent for herself. She knows where the attention or spot light will be, and makes sure she gets there before the curtain opens.

Nice to see Kim get some credit for this for once. People usually forget she was #1 in singles and doubles at the same time for a little while -- and she may be the last one to ever achieve this, because top players don't play doubles much any more. :(

As for a possible Martina/Martina team, as much as I'd love to see it, I worry about Hingis overplaying. :( But maybe at the start of her comeback, playing doubles would help her get back in the swing of things faster.

Hmm, I would love to see them play together. I'd rather see Hingis play with someone who had some more power than her, like Kuznetsova. But anytime the two best doubles players hook up, it'd be great. :worship:

I know Hingis admires Navratilova a lot and that she would be very happy to play with her but I think it's a bad idea.Hingis needs have a more powerful partner than her as Ryan said. Moreover,I don't like Navratilova that much :o :o

am I the only one who thinks they won't do much damage and won't be a threat? Both of them need a partner who can wack the ball and has a decent serve. None of them is. If you watch MN playing doulbles recently, her serve is usually a liability and it get broken a lot. MH serve is better, but not by a lot. They will both struggle to hold their serves.

I hope they do play together for a couple of tournaments just for fun. Martina's teamed up with many great singles and doubles players during her career and it'd be nice to add Hingis to the list.

What I find interesting in this quote is the fact that they spoke about it in July-August. To me this implies that Hingis' plans to come back have been laid over a long period of time.............

I think Marti needs to get herself a partner with some power, and a good serve. It would complement her style perfectly. It would be great to watch her and Nav play together of course, but i'm not sure it would be the smartest move.

I dont think it is a smart idea for both players....they have similar games and they are both very smart.....and both have very strong personality and are big headed, there will be a clash somewhere strong enough to affect results....

I doubt they'll be a permanent team. They must both know that they would do better with a power player - Navratilova has said as much before, said that her ideal partner would be Lindsay. They'll probably just play a couple of tournaments for fun.

I'd like to see either Martina with Sveta/Daniela/Amelie/Lindsay/Petrova - those would be good teams.
