oHHHHH God i have been thinking this for ages but i have to get it off my chest:p

Melanie really pisses me off and i''m not talking about her hair;)
I mean i'm a huge Hingisfan and you know Melanie is always looking so f*cking angry!O.k Martina isn't showing her best for the last tournaments but i always feel so sorry for her!How must she think about it , everytime that she lookst at Melanie she just sees Melanie looking totally angry with no smile or a sign that she is proud of Marti whatsoever:mad:

I know that Melanie is A HUGE factor of Marti's succes but sometimes i just feel like :Come on relax!
You have to support Marti and i really feel that she isn't in the crowd to support Marti but just to see her win , and if Marti isn''t winning she gets angry! You have to support your child if she wins but also when she looses!Martina is giving her best what else can she do?Come on Melanie give Marti a break!

She can really learn a lesson from Oracene Williams who always is supportive and never is angry when her daughters aren't playing so well!

What do you guys think?

Btw Congrats Venus and Venusfans for this great victory!
And to the Martians:Our tournament will come;)

I don't know anything about Melanie Molitar, but I know that I have those stupid lines in my between my eyebrows (because I'm a frowner by nature - always have when I concentrate) so that I'm always looking pissed or evil if I'm not smiling.

Now, I don't know if that's the case with Hingis' mother, but if it is, it wouldn't bother Martina because she knows that that's just the way Melanie looks.

Martina's problem is not Melanie's face, however. I believe that Martina really needs to read some of her old interviews and watch some of her old matches to see that confidence and the arrogance that she once had.

Maybe she can get it back. That (and an improved serve) is the only thing that's going to get her to a gs championship.

(Well, that and both Venus and Serena down with the flu)

you are so right, and she was already like this from the start, according to her father Martina created her smile out of nerves because she was afraid for Melanie! It's a shame! :o

I think Melanie is just pushing Marti way too much, which can only be bad for her IMO. But her looking angry doesn't have anything to do with that, I think.

I'm not realy a Martina fan so I'll only say that I really wish Martina would find the strength of self to get a new coach. Melanie may be a great mom...but Hingis is too dependant on her.

I don't know how true it is but I once read the Melanie dressed Seles down after she and Hingis lost to Venus and Serena...someone who's that much into winning can't be much fun as ones main support mechanism.

I don't think Martina would be successful if her mother wasn't Melaine.... She pushed her a lot!!! But I think she is still a good mother... look at the action after FO Final 99....

I don't know if it means she's not a good mother or not. She probably is. She doesn't always look mean to me, as someone said, it may just be her usual expression. I remember reading an interview where Martina said her mother is more ambitious than she is. So in some sense you get the impression that her mother does push her.

Well, some very interesting points here...
You are right, it couldn't be Melanie's face. That would have been the first face she ever saw in her life. SHe should be used to that by now.:)

I don't know about reading some of her old interviews. She might end up RETIRING if she did. I mean she was supposed to, before Vee was to get on the throne???
And maybe it's watching her old movies which is making her too stubborn to change??? Arrogance goes hand in hand with winning. I did really like her old "confident" self. Let's face it she was able to back it up with her play.

With V & S coming down with flu, that might not be enough. There are different types of Flu. It must be the one that makes you Bed-ridden. Even then their dad must bolt down the door and guard it. Playing Martina could be good enough incentive to ignore a severe flu:bounce:

Seriously, Melanie has been a great influence on Martina. Martina would not function well without her mum. That's a fact, it ahs been proven. SHe tried it, you might say not long enough, but ut didn't work.
Remember we would not be having this conversation if she was still winning. And she would have been winning if The sisters, Jenny and Lindsay were not on the scene. SO they are her PROBLEM, not her mum!

Yeah she looks angry in the most of Martina's matches, but I think I saw her smiling few times ...

She was and is very important for Martina I think. Well she was the one who wanted Martina to play tennis.

I used to sit near her while I was volunteering at a tournament and she never smiles and always looks angry. I also didn't like the fact that she would pump her fists when Martina's opponent hits an error or makes a double fault.

Well, she loves to bury her head in her hands when Martina is not winning easy, lots of negative body language, but what really pisses me off is the fist pumping when the opponent makes a doublefault or unforced error... :fiery:

I think if she were more supportive, then Martina may do better. Relax, take a page out of Oracene's book. lol, Oracene is 'THE' tennis parent, she was cheering after Monica won at the Aus 2002, she was smiling throughout the match, didn't look nervous or worried at all, and she was actually listening to music before the match!!

the difference between Melanie and Oracene is that Melanie is a mother and a coach, thus there's more pressure on her than on Oracene.;) She may seem angry on court but I truly believe that after every match win or lose, she's always there to support Marti. Marti is a great lady and Melanie is certainly a part of what we're seeing about Marti. :bounce:

in support of Melanie...maybe Martina isnīt listening to her instructions at all, things like tactics and everything...maybe thatīs why she looked so angry the last few matches!

But I agree, Melanie should be proud of Martina all the time!

Yes, she sometimes does...her attitude of displaying such negative signs is very stressful to Martina while she's playing. First of all, Melanie has taken Marti to the top of the tennis world..she and she alone should be given credit for that. She has been a dominant mother...transferring her tennis skills and transforming her only daughter to become a star with great skills(something she never had by the way) but lived these accomplishments through her talented daughter. For that, Martina has always shown great admiration for her Mom and I'm sure much gratitude as well. But lets, zip back to the AO this year, when Martina had 4 match points on the end of her racket...the camera zooms over at Melanie and what do you see?? "A basket case" wringing her hands and looking fretful and worried...camera zooms over at Stefano and he's looking very positive because Jen at this point is mounting a comeback...and naturally he's rooting with great gusto!! Well, we all know the rest of the story but I tell you...Melanie's negative signs did not give that extra encouragement to Martina when she so much needed an extra push in order to take the match. Yes! sometimes Melanie does a exude sour puss!!
