Just curious how many wildcards Martina Hingis will get in 2006? Will she play challenger events?

Thanks!

There's not much to say, is there? She'll have as many WCs as she wants, play anywhere she wants, and you can forget about Martina Hingis playing a challenger event.

Biggest news of the beginning of the 2006 season! Who the hell wouldn't give 'er a WC??? Hingis is gonna tear up the start of this year simply by possibility alone. Power to her.

Ok...

Jakeev, I am sure Martina will get all the Wildcards she wants, plus (if it´s a smaller tourney) a bunch of entry money because she has won so many Grand Slams. Every tourney director would kill to get her entering. Playing challengers? I think Martina is worth a lot more than challengers and she will go for the big events.

Doesn't she get unlimited WCs as Gold Emeritus?

who would you prefer...a former world no 1(one of the greatest) or somebody from your country who isn't known by anybody

'As many as she needs' would be more accurate, since it won't be many. :)

I don't think we'll see that Hingis ego anywhere near a challenger event...

Before she'd even announced her schedule, the AO, Goldcoast, Canberra, Hobart, Sydney and Auckland had all offered wildcards. Tournament directors were calling her management to see if she was interested in recieving one of their wildcards. Imagine the publicity for the event where she returns. It'll be a media frenzy. A tournament director's dream.

why would you call someone a dumbass?
it's perfectly logical to wonder if there was an upper limit of the number of wildcards a player can receive into the maindraw of tournaments in the year.

1. Because Hingis has Gold Emeritus status (unlimited WC's) which has already been discussed extensively.
2. Because the thought of Hingis playing challengers is ridiculous.
3. Because it's Jakeev.

As many as it takes until she gets her ranking up to a point that she won't need a wild card. I thought your question wasn't dumb. :wavey:

The only "dumbass" would be the tournament director who refuses Martina Hingis a Wildcard.

She'll get a wildcard to any event she wants.
