Michelle is portuguese and she's in Nick Bollitieri's academy for a few years. I've never seen her playing but according to portuguese tennis' journalists she's a prodigy and a start-to-be.

That is really big time. Hopefully she will be a big name in the future. So much talent there.

Portugal doesn't have great tennis traditions, tennis schools are rudimentary and the federation doesn't have major training plans. Michelle is an exception and she'll be (like Sesil or Nicole) not a produt of her country "facilities" but from a huge effort her parents were able to put together. She's a sweet girl, hope she can make it! ;)

Great! I just hope she has some unique aspect to her game, because another baseline-basher Bollettieri clone isn't very interesting to me. :( Though i would still root for her, because she's from Portugal, and they deserve more good players there. :)

Good result Michelle! She does look older though.

Anna Kournikova was 13 when she won Eddie Herr U18 and 12 when she won U14.

wow Anna really matured as a player early...to win U18 at 13...

Maria Sharapova won U16 at 13...a year older than Michelle...

While playing against mostly older players, I suppose.

This is a major star in the making.
