PYW Rankings

This week's rankings combine the results of two weeks, in which three ITF events were played. France hosted ITF Deauville and ITF Poitiers in subsequent weeks, whereas ITF Tucson, Arizona was played in the first week. The trend in PYW is clear: Eastern Europe is dominating, as is illustrated by the victories of Slovakian Henrieta Nagyova (Deauville) and Lucie Safarova (Poitiers). Varvara Lepchenko, of Uzbekistan, won ITF Tucson.

Important changes in the rankings:

- With no players defending points this week, many players dropped a few spots, others climbed a few, yet some rose a considerable number of points. One of them is ITF Poitiers winner Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic. She jumps 9 spots, to end up near the Top 50: #52.

- Ukraine's Viktoriya Kutuzova had two great weeks, reaching the final in Deauville and the semi final in Poitiers. This means she surpasses Tatiana Perebiynis as the top Ukrainian player. Her rise from #71 to #58 (+13) indicates her great shape.

Other notable changes:

Elena Vesnina RUS | 108 (148, +40)
Varvara Lepchenko UZB | 130 (175, +45)
Vilmarie Castellvi PUR | 158 (188, +30)

It was self-evident that one of the three ITF champions would be crowned Player of the Week. This title goes to Henrieta Nagyova, who was the only one to not drop a set en route to her tournament victory. In Deauville, she struggled in two sets against two of her opponents, only to go on cruise control for the other matches. Her victory brings her inside the Top 100, as she jumps 22 places, from #106 to #84.

Road to the title:

R32: Galina Voskboeva RUS | 7-5 7-5
R16: Anastasiya Yakimova BLR [5] | 6-3 6-3
QF: Maret Ani EST [3] | 6-4 7-5
SF: Akgul Amanmuradova UZB | 6-3 6-3
