Hingis is either coming back in Gold Coast (Tier III with no byes - so first round against top seeds is possible) or Hong Kong exhibition (currently eight players but perhaps one with withdrawal with injury or the organizers will somehow change the format to nine players so Hingis can play).

I vote for Dementieva revenge. But it wasn't Moscow, it was Filderstadt where Dementieva won in Martina's last match.

It wouldnt be good fr her to face a really good player straight off, she should build up to playing the higher ranked players. I chose Na Li because she is the lowest ranked on that list i think and would be a better person for martina to play.

:secret: Actually Sania Mirza is probably easier for Martina to beat than Na Li. She hits so many errors, her forehand is prone to go way off and her fitness is :tape:

Na Li won't give anything away and is sure to be tough for Martina

I would love to see her kick the asses of hyped up Mirza and show her how tio play real tennis, not just pound the ball with no thought and 389484633 errors

I hope she starts at the Gold Coast and not at Hong Kong.

I think it's too much of wishful thinking to want to play Hong Kong straight away. I think she needs to play against some lower ranked players to get some match practice in before tackling the higher players.

Me too. She needs to start against lower ranked players. Kind of ala Agassi did in 1997.

If that is so true, why is Na Li ranked lower than Mirza? huh? huh?

Since it's first round, it could be anyone. I thought not a top seed.... and thought it might be fun to see how she does against the young Vaidisova.

because Na Li was restricted in the number of tournaments she could play in 2005. In their only meeting, Na beat Sania in the Asian Championship Final

I think that Martina vs Na (or Sania) could be very interesting.

I wouldn't mind a Hingis vs. Petrova at Auckland for a little revenge. But of the choices, Patty to show her who the real Swiss Number 1 is :) GO MARTINA!

I would love to see her against Conchita Martinez at Gold Coast.
Would be nice... Indeed that's the kind of tennis Martina loves to play against.

Tati vs Hingis at GC... Tati needs to begin the year beating players with high profile to get her confidence back ;)

there are so many enticing options, but i hope martina gets an easy first match back. call me a mood killer, here, but i want to see martina get settled in before she's playing a top tenner. i'd love a sharapova/hijngis match as much as anyone, i just don't want it to be a first round match.

Since I'm NOW (for the first time in history,) supporting Hingis in her attempt to comeback, how about we dream big. Forget her first tournament and fast-forward to the second round of Oz. Hingis vs. Sharapova- and the UPSET OF THE DECADE!!! Hingis wins 7-6, 6-4

Now if it's guaranteed that Hingis will lose in her first big matchup then I'd rather she face Kim or Serena- no shame in losing to either of them and it would be good experience for her in the long run.

I would love to see Patty vs. Martina in a Swiss showdown. In the final of course :hearts: With Martina taking out Maria and Nicole on her way to the final   :smoke:

I would like to see her come back against a not too tough opponant and get an easy win in her first match back. That way she will gain some confidene that she can keep up with modern play, and should be able to give it a better shot against the top players. I think it's very unlikely she'll return a worldbeater straight away, simply because I'm a realist.

my thoughts exactly. I even think this is an unfair poll to Martina mainly because I hope to God she doesn't face a top player in the first round. I know these things are just hypothetical but why wish for it? I think it is better for everybody if Martina faces lower ranked players in the early rounds of tournaments first or even just the first round...obviously, however, the match-up I would be most excited and anxious about is Maria vs. Martina...:) Lindsay-Martina would also be great...
