There are lots of tennis playing families that once were or still are extremely succesful.

Who do you think were, are or will be the best tennising families?

I don't know many so please list the families not in the poll that you think are good. :)

Without question, the Williams family. There is no other family that I can think of with both parents as coach who can boast of such success with both children. Also not to mention both being well known together. I think they have become one of the most famous siblings world wide.

The Sanchez Vicario should be definetly be included, way above most of those who are in this list...Murray ? Bondarenko ?
Also the Black family should be included...
My vote should go to the Maleevas, they really made history, being on the top for more than 20 years, of course the Williams too, but I do not like them...

How does Elke Clijsters play? i'm surprised that she is ranked so low. I suppose not every member of a tennis playing family can be great. Kim must have got the best tennis gene!

The way I see it, it's relative (pardon the pun!) To have two players ranked in the top 1000 in the world is pretty amazing!!!!

James & Thomas Blake
Patrick & John McEnroe

There's only one answer isn't there!

Maybe Marat and Dina Safin come close, In terms of doubles, Bob and Mike Bryan eclipse everyone, but looking at it in terms not just of achievement, but influence and effect on the game, Venus and Serena Williams surely must win.

Not that I like them, I still respect them, and accept their greatness ;)

I suppose you are right but i was just comparing it to people like the williams sisters and the fact they are both very similarly ranked and the Clijsters are at quite different stages in the rankings. It is amazing to have 2 in the top 1000 i have to admit.

In terms of achievemnents one would difinetly choose the William sisters....and another reason would be the fact thet they have achieved more or less similar things....they are of an equal standard...something you can not say for many of the rest, especially the Murrays.....
In terms of the best according to circumstances of course it is the Maleeva family having raised 3 top tenners who grew and trained under the iron curaibn at the time, where there was hardly any tennis courts, balls , gears or even travels.....so it is definetly the Maleevas....

Samantha is no relation to the Murray brothers. Jamie Murray is ranked around 900 in ATP singles, but much better in doubles.

Cool, is she a good prospect?
I think she's good, but she ain't been making that much progress, so probably not ;)

Jamie is a great player though :) Hopefully he can get it together next year.

The Williams Sisters have won the Doubles Grand Slam! Isn't that better than the Bryan Brothers?

Orion
Dec 8th, 2005, 05:51 PM
The Bryans. Twins who use different hands (one's a lefty, the other a righty) are IMPOSSIBLE to play against.

the williams sisters, obviously.

unless we're talking family dynasty, like a family that has had great players in multiple generations, or unless you look to where there's more than 2 players connected.

really, just nobody is close to venus and serena.
